Both are pay to win. Pay 600$ on a toon and you get good enchanted and socketed level 65 pvp gear for officer.

What's with you and Smartik thinking this is a thing.
You can't buy enchantment stones in the BCM on NA unless they're doing an event for it.
You can't buy wraps or courier passes in the BCM ever.
You can buy socket supplements, but not mana stones.
The only way you're going to pay to get your gear is to buy a shitton of kinah from a RMT site and buy couriers from other players in game, then buy gear from someone who's selling it.

exactly........ thats what you do. And there are times Couriers are sold in BCM and Manastones are bought in broker. And You can buy a supplement that garauntees success on socketing manastones

600$ = about 2 - 5 b Kinah depending on which server and race you play from those sites and people are always selling Gear for kinah.

In basically any MMO ever you can RMT and gain a huge advantage, even in games that don't have an ability to take off the soulbound state of an item there's always some rare vanity stuff or whatever else you can get. Hell in some games you can even get people to take you through a raid and give you all the gear if you pay, or people can get on your account and do it for you, or oh I know why not just buy a fully geared account to begin with?

But oh wait those are all illegal and since you had to accept the ToS and EULA your account gets banned if they catch wind of it.

I don't exactly agree with all of ncsofts cash shop options, and for the most part they are simply out to make more money in any way possible (woah calm down there Satan, surely companies don't actually want to make money?! PREPOSTEROUS!) but its silly to say that the game is pay to win because illegal activity allows you to get an unfair advantage. It doesn't work that way.

Actually $600 is more like 10b. Couriers haven't been sold in the BCM ever. The only way to get them is the stupid wheel of fortunerk they do every so often and lockboxes.

The thread was about worth it to play retail, and all you've done is point out reasons why retail is better than here.
With $600 here I could gear multiple characters in the best gear possible, then run around facerolling the majority of the server being carried by my awesome donator gear.

Umm they did about 9 months ago when i was playing chanter. Bought about 12 of the 61-65 PVP abyss on BCM to get a few level 65 AP stuff..

I just pointed out some facts. I said I liked Retail better just because of high population. Then a couple other posters said EU was pay to win, I corrected the poster by saying both are pay to win. Then you try to elaborate that its not even though I personally did it with my Gunner and Chanter.

And 600 Dollars will only gear you 1 toon with full accessories +0 and full set with full WOC2 and 2 weapons and then maybe another 5 piece set. Or a fully completed toon with +5 accessories and a few more arb pieces.

And yes, it is better than what you pay for in Retail if you use the same amount of money.

Triple exp buffs from Aion cake, double exp talismans free from web shop every now and then xd

The enh cap has been raised to +30 yes. The type of gear does not matter as much as the enh level on it, you know that very well.

Yup, they were actually selling the stuff around the time I quit. I don't care what happened after xd

lol I stopped playing completely around January on retail when i went out to the field for 5 weeks and couldnt play because of no internet. Came back and Clarity kicked me out for inactivity even though i told all of the leaders that i was leaving for a week.

When it comes to making friends and being close to the community, I would say stick with gamez. small community = more friends who will know you. Playing on retail, the only way if your well known is if you been either playing for years and participate in everything or are the leader of the top 5 legion. Other than that, your usually just another player with a few friends who you may or may not play with.

I wasn't playing much and let my friend use the account for crafting since my alchemy was maxed out. When I got on later, found my account near emptied, out of 200 mill I had about 25 left. I just gave up on it then and switched games.

Happened nearly every time I shared info with anyone. People just suck, far too greedy. Friends leave you for gear on your account. Pretty pathetic.

lol thats pretty much any retail game. WoW, Aion, eve is full of scamming. Dark orbit too. I would say, retail not really worth it. Especially if you invested time in the private server or something else. Takes too much time away.

Not really. If you want to be known by an entire community, then yes, but its mostly the same as here on Gamez or anywhere else - you either become a big name, stay here for years, or something like that.

If you're reasonable and you just want to have some good friends, that shouldn't really be an issue. Find a legion to take you in and be sociable. Its not that hard. You make it sound like making some friends requires you to save their life in some heroic event, but all it takes is making yourself available to people, playing with them, and eventually getting to know them well enough to call them your friends.

The only time you should be sharing an account with someone is if you're willing to take the risk that they may take something from you, because you trust them that much that the risk seems so distant to you that you can accept it.

Furthermore, never, EVER leave someone with long-term access to an account you don't even play. Long-term opportunities are tempting, and you're just asking to have your stuff taken. It's not about what game it is, its about not being irresponsible with your belongings. No matter what game you play, and no matter how awesome the community is, if you tempt someone, human nature can very easily take over. Just like you wouldn't leave someone in a house of diamonds without paying them adequately to not touch your stuff if you're going to be gone long enough for them to take everything without issue, don't fucking leave other belongings wide open.

edit: To add, pinning scamming on retail is the stupidest god damn thing I've ever heard, considering private servers are known for how open you are to scamming. Most games now will refund stuff to you if you're scammed because they have the power and time to do so, Gamez will not.

Private servers may take time, but retail is a much better investment. While private servers are unstable and risk death at any moment, on retail you not only have more people but you have a facilitated experience given to you by a game company which is essentially promising to give you years of stable gameplay. The friends you meet there will probably last longer, and the experiences you have will be more rewarding for the effort you put in.

You're freaking delusional. You can buy an account geared in top tier gear for less than that. $600 on retail would get you 10b assuming you RMT rather than buy NCcoin and sell it in game. Last I saw people sold Eclipse gear for around 500m for the chest so the rest would be slightly less. That's a a set with accs and a weapon with roughly 4b left for whatever, more than enough to fully enchant and socket your "p2w" set. WOC2 Don't even exist in retail I WONDER WHY -cough imbalanced cough- Arguing that retail is more pay to win than Gamez is just lol worthy. The simple fact that the best gear on here is donate only makes your entire point invalid. You clearly don't know what you're talking about especially since you keep insisting that couriers were ever in the BCM.

Between you and Vintage I don't know what's worse.
The enchant cap is not 30. It's 15 like it has been since it was raised from 10.
I seriously don't know where you guys pull this crap from but my god. You guys sure are full of misinformation.

I think that it's not where you play, but how you play! For me it doesn't matters if I play on retail, or here, or anywhere else. I can start from the begining, without any real money invested! Not that I can not afford it, but it seems quite stupid for me to give real, hard-to-get money for a few virtual items, which will make you strong, just to tickle a lil' your ego. I have a Songweaver in retail, lvl 65 with a nice gear and I did that for just 2 weeks! No boosters, no paid items, no friends who were ready to help me progress, just few random trades and little luck!
Sadly, many people just pay for everything without earning it the "hard way". I personaly, play for the game.. I accept it as a time-killing action and nothing else. I'm not tempted to be the best or well-known player in the community. There are times indeed, in which I rage when I get killed, but actually I don't really care. I play for fun! =)
My answer to your question is: Go and try for yourself! Don't listen to the oppinion of the others, because everyone have their own point of view. Play one week, see how you are progressing, then decide wether you want to continue or not. No-one is going to do something to you anyways.
