If Aion goes 18+

Thoughts on this? On the 2nd link below, the blogger discusses the possible result of aion becoming 18+ like updates for more skimpier armors and sexual scenes or skills.

That's what I was thinking, i been playing aion for so long and i've invested a lot of time to know the game, even if gamez goes down i would still play it in another server. but if the nckor company is indeed pushing it then they must have a reason and I don't think I want to play a game anymore if it is soon going to be full of those 18+content. I wish there would be a final news on this matter so I could quit now and start anew in another game than wait for aion to be 18+.

I think Aion's economy will be affected if this rule will be implemented. Because we already know that Aion is still the most played MMORPG in korea, japan and china. And i think some of its player are under 18yrs old. But i hope this will not happened. Since in gamezaion many filipino players are under 18 years old.

 

I highly doubt a company would do such a thing, you don't have to believe everything you see on the Internet. There aren't many ways or so 'proper' ways to put these checks into place, therefore even a 10 year old could get hold of the game which would bring the company's reputation down. Think about it, it just doesn't make sense.

P.S. I haven't read the articles just assuming what's in them.

 

1) shit's almost half a year old and the 2nd link is a random person's blog who's probably also late on the (wrong) info with no sources
2) do people actually go by these age requirements?? I played diablo 2 when i was 7 and nobody has died out of it.
3) sex scenes in aion gg...........yeah keep dreaming, ain't gonna happen
4) Kaion and other mmos which have some subsription should be 18+ by default anyway, you do have to work to get the money to pay for it. If not, then your parents are paying for it and supposedly they decided it's okay......so idunno.

This is exactly the kind of mind that we youths shouldn't have. Those ratings were created for games for a purpose. When I get old I'll be glad to the people who were and are in charge of the possibility that I can get to raise my children in a society where not everyone went through childhood freely watching gore and sex. If kids are curious and went through stuffs just to access content like that, those would be in uncommon cases.

I think we are on a different level when it comes to morality so I don't think we'll get to agree. But just like you said it would take effort to do those things with a super mario game, just like sex. In short story, person is good, finds a partner, gets married, gets to have sex as a privilege of that bond. We shouldn't think that slapping it free on their faces is normal and that nobody cares, people do care and that is why ratings boards/committees exist in society.

They should just implement an IQ test before downloading the game, I'm sure half of you lab rats will fail.

Banning something is the best way to get a child interested in it, gotta love reverse psychology. Also the mario part is irrelevant. Back to the age crap in mmos, by default they should all be 18+ cause you can't guarantee that every single player will NOT stay in the main city talking about conspiracy theories, drugs, how he beats and rapes his 4 year old daughter and etc. Compared to that adding a low res blood texture to hits and a few badly clipping sex scenes ain't that big of a deal. Also ncsoft probably wanted that rating cause they ran out of ideas and had to import armor skins from BnS.

 

On the internet, nearly everyone is at least 18 years old, right..? Just sayin'

Ok, serious now. I'm questioning the people who came up with those ideas really. Sure, pandas in WoW are one thing but this kinda tops it off. There's other sources if people with to see overly skimpy dressed models and such.

Aside from that, the character model details in Aion could use some improvement I guess. Check out the hip/crotch area when sitting in kung fu pose and you understand what I mean.

 

The article says 98% Aion's players are over 18 so why not... if even if I seriously doubt such thing will happen.
The article also talk about a specific server for 15+ and 18.
In fact, if a such thing happened, I'm sure the youngest among us will find a way to play on over 18 servers if they really want to.
Actually, I'm not hostile to this idea,... The game is getting old and it can renew it's interest XD

 

In all seriousness, considering the aging game and the new MMOs that are coming, it makes no sense to do this now for Aion. And indeed the post and idea its from 2 years ago, so yeah.
As with anything, if your data suggest you have the player base for that and the interest exist, then is valid to do it. Of course it does not guarantee success, but you can do it if you want.

 

You probably need to re-read these rating guides:
ESRB
Content suitable only for adults ages 18 and up. May include prolonged scenes of intense violence, graphic sexual content and/or gambling with real currency.
PEGI

This adult rating is applied when the level of violence reaches a stage where it becomes gross violence and/or includes elements of specific types of violence. In general terms it is where the level of violence is so visually strong that it would make the reasonable viewer react with a sense of revulsion. This rating is also applied where the level of sexual activity is explicit which may mean that genitals are visible. Any game that glamorises the use of real life drugs will also probably fall into this category.

If you even read the 2nd link that leads to a blog site and this ESRB rating guide. You'd see that Aion wouldn't need 18+ rating just for armors.
