    Go join instances (eg. Infinity shard)
    You can get gears there and you can earn AP(abyss point), CM(Ceranium medal), and bloodmarks which you can use to buy decent gears/pvp gear. Or you couls just vote/donate fir credits and buy gears on webshop. The easiest way is to make friends :) you can find people whos willing to help you ingame. Just beware of scammers.

    However, if you are referring to in-game events, then I don't know if there is any at this moment since in-game events are hosted in random time intervals depending on whether an AM is online. :)
