Solved Speed events?

The last couple speed event's I've done, I've been beaten by what I think is an impossible time. Is there some thing I'm missing in this event, or is this an exploit?

I think they have a shortcut somewhere. im always got beaten too and when i looked at my back, there's no one but me only. -.-
How's that possible?

You didnt sprint. Plus there are some shortcuts(not really)
ex. at the lost forest, instead of going truh the road thingy pass truh the left side/forest(Ya get my point if you look at the map)

 

in both cases, I was looking behind me and the opponent was not racing, it was like they were waiting for me to get ahead. I was sprinting the entire way (stopping to use flight pots) without getting lost and the race ended as I was getting out of the swamp (~half way through).

 

There is a shortcut. if you see that the person goes different way from the right road, that means they'll go take a shortcut, of course the person might fail in it, but mostly they succeed and win, you get kicked out without any reward. If the people who take the shortcut can get banned, i'd suggest to try recording, and before the timer ends, do /inspect and you'll see the name

There is no official rule to get these people banned.. We've been discussing this for a while now, and I completely agree with you. They are bug abusing (to me at least), and it is pointless cause this is a speed event and not a "who can bug abuse more" event >.>

I'll try to discuss this with somebody yet again.. And see what can be done.

 

Before calling this "bug abusing", we first should take a look if it's actually a bug or not. The shortcut will most likely have to do with climbing, which at least in my opinion is nothing equal to abusing bugs.

 

That's like saying that since people can team up in open world pvp and make groups, banning them for teaming up on FFA doesn't make sense because it's natural for them.. Obviously everything is handled according to the type of the event =)

Using sprint to climb an obelisk with your mount will not get you banned.. But using sprint to climb a mountain and take a shortcut on an event that has to do with RUNNING, makes sense about being called bug abusing

 

If that is indeed the same, then please show me the specific rule which restricts people from taking shortcuts of any sort in race events.

Look more into it, is it fair to people who do the event battleground the normal way instead of climbing the mountain to get a faster win? Those who "abuse" it are most likely to get up to 2-3 wins in a matter of 1 minute, that is like 4-6TS +100k - 150k ap while the others are left empty-handed.

It's not exactly a bug to get outside of the map, otherwise most people pre 4.0 would have been banned just for kisking in heiron/belus. At the same time, teaming up in ffa is definitely not a bug either, yet it's not allowed. For a race event you have a track and an intended way to pass through it, wether you want to keep closest to the left or go exactly by the map's road doesn't matter much, but going outside of the track and back into it as a "shortcut" is certainly not intended or normal. If you MUST have it be a bug or not, it actually is. The Z axis for the finish line is fucked and people "finish" the event 100< meters OVER the actual finish line.

 

Couple of times I've heard and also experienced that the event has ended way much sooner than it should have, - even with shortcuts-. I would be surprised if this was nothing to do with any kind of bugs since it would be an impossible time even for those who decided to choose the "easy" way.

Better either to look into it more and do something about it but let's be honest the best would be if it was removed for good! D;

 

This is the thing, really, that I would take to define it as being a bug.

Yea a lot of people want it removed, even from my perspective its meh. Everyone that doesn't have quite enough TS or AP and doesn't have the gear to PvP, and if they enjoy a little competition with another person they can do this without having to worry about that aspect.

 

Still, going outside of the map and back in would make you finish before the other person is in darkspore road and is pretty shit. The map was designed before mounts were implemented so it's more like ...design abuse. Hence why maps after 3.0 have a ton of invisible walls to prevent you from going up your own ass by sprinting into a bush or something.

 

Well yea I was agreeing with you xD Finishing 100m over the finish like is pretty poop as well. If that part wasn't there then they would never finish in the first place.

 

Thanks for all the comments. I too hope it gets fixed so we can just do the event as intended. I really don't want to have to spend a handful of speed events trying to figure out the exact spot on the wall to jump it in order to have a hope of competing.
