Update #2 (CHANGE PASSWORD)

Hey guys,

Development has been a little slow lately due to some changes in my plans, but I'm still making progress with the free time I have.
I just finished developing the "Change Password" feature in the new website and it needs a lot of testing.

How does the process works now?

1. go to usercp -> change password
2. enter current password and new password
3. you get a verification email and click it
4. you enter your username
5. verification process
   1. if you have set your security pin (extra account security) then it will ask for it
   2. if you have not set your security pin but instead have your security questions, the website will ask you to answer the questions
   3. if you have not set neither your security pin nor security questions, the website will not ask you for any further information
6. password changed (yay)

So, comparing it to our current system this new change password process has the following advantages:

• you do not have to stay logged in to your account (in the website) for the verification link to work (it actually logs you off when changing the password)
• it's integrated with the account extra security, which adds a new layer of protection against hackers.

Please test it as much as you can. If you find any issues with the process make sure to post it in this thread.
Also let me know how easy it felt for you to change the password using this new process.

Suggestions are very welcome as well.

 

just tested it a few times and it works well ,i easily changed my password. didn't encountered any problems at all.
EDITED: now, as i was trying it again , after the verification you need to log in your account again in gamez then click the verification link again after that the "(enter your) username" page will appear, i mean its not popping out instantly after you first click the verification link but you need to do it twice, now on my third try i was getting an error after i enter my security pin, is it because i overdid it?

 

How about when they forgot the password and email i think shall we put some secruity question something like that. For their recovery. Is that ok?

 

That's due to the BETA website access restriction, once it's goes to public beta there will be no problem.

Forgot password will offer the same verification process.

did you also tried it a multiple times? i also got that error starting on my third try.

 

try again and show me the new error message

 

- After changing the password you have to stay log in or the verification URL will not work.
- If I log out after the change the password and press the verification URL it will turn me to the http://gamezaion.com/beta/
-I stayed log in and I pressed on the verification URL, it asked me for username then it showed me "There was an error changing your password, please contact GamezAION staff. [2]"
- When I tried to get a new verification URL it showed "You have an active password change, please check your email inbox.".

As i mentioned in my previous post, this is only happening due to the account restriction for beta website access. Once the beta site goes public there will be no need to be logged in for the verification process to work.
