Explain a mechanism to reversibly (going both ways) convert any word of 6 lowercase latin letters (e.g. "abcdef") into a 5-letter word than can contain both upper- and lowercase latin letters. Provide instructions for manipulating the first word to form the output word. Another set of instructions on the output word must regenerate the original.
Send me a PM, and if you are the first with an eligible solution, you get my credentials (and I will change the account e-mail to one of your choice).

Your instruction set has to work for any word - even a word that I tell you, right then and there.
    Example:
    I say "taglah"
The steps you provide turn the word into: "TglAh". Then your other set of instructions turn "TglAh" back into "taglah" -- just imagine the person using the second set of steps doesn't know what the original word was, and must restore it from the 5-letter one.

26^6 < 52^5 by seventy million. The latter is plenty of room to encode the 6-letter word.

@Smartik1 It was a school assignment of sorts, meant for 12-year olds many years ago :) You get the idea, as I said, in the 5-letter word you're allowed to use a corresponding character for each of the possible 6-letter word characters. The capital letters carry more data by their nature without losing the original data. So just figure out how to put that resource to use.

@Razor so you come back to give us your riddle? I would have been much more interested if it was a picture of your walkers, I'm sure @Grrr agrees with me on that one.

Yeah. Its not that hard anyway. You could do it and if you're playing I'd be glad to give it to you. In any case, bumping.

I swear he said, 2 words that are reversible and explain how you can go from one to the other and back again.

Theoretically speaking this can't be done. The amount of possible 6-letter lowercase string combination hits around 300m regardless of repetition while the total possible combination of a 5-letter string is less than 60m that is mixed case already. Until the output value becomes alphanumeric or some other special character is added I think this is impossible.

Somethings tells me you are looking for a solution to your school assignment :)

Anyways you might want to give an example or be a bit more specific as I suspect nobody here understands what you are asking. Everyone here is looking at palindromes, potentially reversible words as such. I would suspect what you have in mind is a mathematical computation with alt codes for the letters in the word and trying to go from 6 characters to 5, then back. I would also suspect that the 5 letter word does not have to be an actual word, just 5 characters.

Figured you meant something like that. That's why I asked you to specify since nobody else seemed to get what you are asking :)
