I am getting this error now when trying to launch the game launcher.

I have been playing for a week and have not had issues until 2 days ago, and I have done almost everything I can to resolve this problem on my own.

This is an example log file from when the app crashes:

    https://cl.ly/371Q2M03421y/2018-28-2_13-15-02.bdlog

It asks me to pick a folder for the game client to download into even though one is saved in the app settings. Once I do that, the launcher crashes instantly after, regardless of the state of the folder I picked.

I have tried deleting the game client data.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the launcher.
I have tried deleting my Retail BDO game client settings and related cache files.
I have tried deleting the %USER%\AppData\Local\GamezBDO folder to remove any .net app settings files that might be screwed up.
I have tried letting the app download the game again into an empty folder, which results in a different exception but the launcher still crashes.
I have tried disassembling the launcher binary to try and see where the error is myself (its packed with something akin to confuser, and I am not going to waste my time trying to fully unpack it).
I have tried contacting Carl directly on discord about this issue
I am now posting this on the forums to try and get this error resolved.

What is your game path in the launcher, and are both retail and gamezbd in teh same drive? I've sometimes seen this when these are the issue. After making sure both are in the c drive, check to see if your path matches mine. [IMG]

I do have retail BDO and GameZ BDO on the same drive, a Storage Spaces managed array. They are in different folders on that drive, but still housed on the same drive.
I can't really put either copy on a different drive, I have this Storage Space drive setup so that I dont have to manage the 6 drives individually :(
I would also mention that I had 0 issues installing and playing each version on the same drive for about 5 days. It's only after I restarted my computer for the week that I had issues.

Do you have gamezbd launcher (entire folder) set as an exemption in your antivirus, firewall, and windows defender? even if disabled, it's needed

    Yes, its exempted.

Again, everything was working fine for 5 days. Its not like I am having this issue installing for the first time. This issue has come up after everything was working fine and now blocks me from doing anything meaningful with the launcher.

Updating this thread, as I resolved my problem.

I had an outstanding monthly windows update and after applying it my issue went away.
