Matchlock hits not registering​

Bug Description:

It's become increasingly common that matchlock damage does not register on hunting mobs, despite visually and audibly hitting the target.​

How to reproduce/proof:

Shoot at any hunting monster with a matchlock, bears are ideal as they have the highest health without moving around all the time. It's fairly common that 2 out of 3 shots won't register any damage.​

 

I watch the damage apply to the bars then instantly regen. Would love a reply on this. Is it going to be fixed? Is there a reason to keep trying to level hunting in order to whale hunt for end game materials?
