Can Crystalls be Destroyed?

Some people told me that Crystalls cant be destroyed (if you arent a red player, and i am not!).
Before the latest big update, in which even the menu design / UI got changed, I felt like thats quiet true.
I never lost any until that Update came out... since that update I lost a few of my Crystalls.

Maybe I was just lucky until that point and when I died to monsters I didnt got any deathpenalty...
But if thats rly just a bug, which shouldnt be that way, if theres a way to get them back, that would be really nice.

Hmmm, seems it is possible to lose Crystals then, however it is usually only due to PvP death that this can happen, apparently. It is news to me as well.
