Ok I'm asking because in every game I play, I usually just use healers. But I was wondering the mechanic and expactations of Clerics/Chanters in Aion. Also I dislike how chain armor looks for Elyos in Aion, and I was wondering if as a Priest or Chanter parties expected you to use Chain Armor, or is it ok to use Robes? Also how's the mp management without mppots?

Clerics are deadly if you know how to play them right. I'm a gladiator, and Clefairy (a cleric), beats my ass with nearly full HP left. Rangers that silence you will make you cry though

Chanters are good. heal + quite physically offensive. And have nice buffs.

see here's the kicker, I asked about the chainmail because I'd rather use robes, and I don't know if parties would be ok with me being a chanter/cleric using robes. That's why I'm asking.

I've heard of chanters that use robes for more mp and magic attack. Isn't that doable?

    Eh...

well for some reason people have different believes, but chanters need attack/crit stuff. Although, some people say otherwise. Right now even I'm confused. lol

Iunno, I'd go with Chanter, unless you enjoy being support.

do you know any high level clerics or chanters in game that are online right now? I'm in that first town still lv 9 so I don't think I can receive whispers yet.

I've got a chanter bro and I personally use Chain set because a Chanters job is to not only be support. Chanters have the ability to kick major ass if equipped with the right armor (chain) :)

if u go with cleric or chanter ud want the chainmail even though most sets are fugly as a cleric ud be mostly healing though clerics who know what theyre doing can easily pwn and they have an uberpowerful DP skill

a chanter is more for buffing and has decent DPS though ur main role wont be on the front lines

for cleric yah not front line but for chanter the player should be near his/her m8 and stun enemies and heal his/her party

I meant that they can fight but they should also try to focus on buffs and try to heal too and that theyre main concern shouldnt be leading the charges and trying to get the most kills

I don't think clerics will do well in parties wearing a robe set. clerics are targeted early in PvP because of their ability to heal + remove debuffs.

if you really like robes, why not play as a sorc/spirit and support the party with CC?

if this was 1on1 pvp then your a glad. Yes clerics can do that. But rangers just sux, chanter's stunlock sux. If I'm not able to heal myself then I'm dead. I'm trying to socket manastone magic resists>< I hope it works(on magic skills but not on Silence of rangers or assassins right?)

Robes = low defense, Chain = Higher defense. You need to survive to be able to support a party but in my case so far, I haven't been good at support coz everytime I try to heal a person being damaged (for example that time with Taliaa following Clefairy). Clefairy using insta-skills on him and damaging him while resisting his stuns and I healing him and he just runs away from me when he gets his hp gauge at red. So that sux for me if he runs away more than 22m(heal range). And mostly I get scolded for not healing. There was even this one time he died inside Teminon and commanded me to heal him. I got killed by elys because I went in, I had to because he was a Centurion. Haizzz
