    Christmas!

I could not let this Christmas pass without offering a few words that I think are useful to us!!

While everyone celebrates Christmas, it's really sad to see that much of their value was lost. We see forced smiles, rampant consumerism, more children focused on Santa Claus than the figure of Jesus.

The Christmas was not created just to exchange gifts. Christmas is a symbol of respect for Jesus Christ. There is no use being cruel, futile the whole year and at the Christmas been a good person... it's too late to cultivate the spirit of Christmas just one day in the year.

Christmas is a state of mind, a state of union with God and with our brothers and only that. Christmas was meant to be lived every day with love and devotion, with respect.

I would like to remind everyone of the real value of the Christmas, remember that the capitalism image that we had gave to Christmas is a garbled version of prime real sense that this date represents. Indeed, this distorted view is the opposite of Christmas, which is not surprising in a world where all values are reversed.

Therefore I do not wish everyone a Merry Christmas because it's cliche, but I wish you all to look inward and remember to respect your brothers as yourself every day of the year. Not because it's right or wrong, but to understand that the others are just you, but from a different perspective.

The Christmas represents our best, or way to God, our way to the mankind ilumination!

    Thank you very much!!

The meaning of Christmas differs per person. Not everyone shares the same view of Christmas as you do. Because, simply said.. Not everyone is religious. Some find it a total load, some find a fairy tail, and some just can't be bothered.

At first, thank you Snic and Gothicprincess for the kind words! I apreciate people, like both of you, that can hear and understand my intentions! It is rare people in this caotic world stop to hear some usefull things!

And Dementa, all I had told is not for one religious purpose, but only to remeber that one Mastar called Jesus came in this Earth, like other Masters like Buddha and Krishna to teach us the value that we have and to show us that everybody, everyone have the same value, so we need to respect each other not only in this date, at Christmas, but all days of the year!

It is one humanist topic, not a religious one!

From the fourth century, Christians celebrate Christmas, or Christ's birth on 25 December. This was an adaptation of the parties to the sun god of the pagan peoples, acquired by the Romans. The actual date is uncertain, see below.

    Exact birth date of Jesus

The birth date of Jesus is much discussed. Due to failures of the calendar is said that Jesus was born around the year AD 6. However, considering that Jesus was born shortly before Herod's death, this puts us at a date prior to 4 BC.

Another aid that we have to help them locate the birth of Jesus was that this occurred when Joseph went to Bethlehem with his family to participate in the census.

The Romans forced the census of all people subject to them to facilitate tax collection, which has become a valuable aid in the temporal location of the facts, since it occurred exactly four years before the death of Herod in the year 8 BC.

However, the Jews took steps to obstruct any attempt by the occupiers to tell his people, so that, according to history, Jewish lands in the census occurred one year after the rest of the Roman Empire, or is in year 7 BC. In Bethlehem, the census occurred in the eighth month, and it was concluded that Jesus probably was born on August 7 BC.

Other facts also help to estimate the exact date. As reported by the biblical texts, the day after the birth of Jesus, Joseph took a census of his family, and a day later, Mary Elizabeth sent a message reporting the event.

The presentation of the babies in the temple and the purification of women would have to occur until twenty-one days after birth. Jesus was presented in the temple of Zechariah, according to local records, in September on a Saturday. We know that September 7 BC had four Saturdays in April, 11, 18 and 25. As the census in Bethlehem occurred between 10 and 24 August, Saturday would be the presentation of 11. Soon Jesus was born sometime after August 21 7 BC.

this is a nice thread. tho not everyone understand the history of Christmas itself, i do appreciate the gestures.
Christmas for me is a holiday -- where we will mostly spend our time with our families, beloved ones, and our friends. it's a great opportunity to strengthen our bonds and deepen our fellowships. :)

    p.s. : (i don't celebrate Christmas because i knew the history of it :p)
