Ascension quest problems

first and foremost i would like to point out the helpfulness of the community, by far the best i've seen an any mmo so far...now on to my problem
I have attempted to do the ascension quest 3 times on 3 different mages, and ill outline my problem for ya...I take the quest from Minum (or whatever his name is) he tells me to get 3 cards, i go get the 3 cards and talk to him again, after i talk to him it shows me a pretty sweet little video, then teleports me to this small floating rock in the sky (im not sure what the place is called sry) the people i asked told me to talk to the npc, the problem is their wasn't an npc there, none of the 3 times...so i either figure this out or play a different game, and this one looks pretty sweet, please...any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance

when u get teleported to the new place, theres should be an npc on the egde of the platform that u talk to and he takes u for a flight to a little island. once u get there, u have to kill 3 mobs. when those die, the boss appears. if u take him down, Munin should show up and offer u to choose ur secondary class.

what part did u get stuck at?

 

see thats the same thing alot of the people told me, but big problem is their wasn't an npc to talk to, i walked over that rock 100 times, and he was nowhere to be found...idk what the problem is =/

 

do u mean the npc that makes u fly to the island though? or munin after killing the boss

 

the npc that makes u fly apparently, after taking the cards to Munin and landing on that big rock (3 times) i always end up stuck, noone to talk to on the whole thing

 

first suggestion is to go to ur ncsoft launcher and repair ur client (often just installing it is not enough if this is ur first time). try again after that. if it still doesnt help, we can tell our dev about it, he usually updates every day or 2

i tried repairing once when someone mentioned it, ill try again...and i spose i can post a screenshot on my 4th attempt lol (hopefully it works this time tho)

 

ascension has been bugged a few times in the past and the recent wave of updates broke a few things as well. as long as there is some1 to report it, our dev will fix it (as long as he knows what to fix, thats why the screens)

 

if i would have thought about it earlier i would have taken screenshots, just got kinda agitated with the whole process, this game draws my attention unlike any other game has so far, seems to have alot of potential, but in order for me to find out i have to be able to get past lvl 9 lol but yea, the whole problem is just that i dont have a npc after Munin teleports me the first time, hopefully this repair fixes it

 

yeah i know the feeling ascension has been bugged in 1 way or another on quite a few private servers by now, tried 4 servers overall

 

this is actually my first time playing aion, ive played many other pservers tho and i know its not easy to make everything run right, its why i usually ask around in game before coming to the forums, but i have to ascend and try to check this game out lol

 

yeah since ascension is the only quest ull ever need to do around here it can be a PAIN to get stuck at lvl 9 coz of it specially since the asmo ascension takes so long thx to the cards and such xD

its true that the recent updates broke a lot of things that used to work but they finally made the test server public again so now people get to test updates be4 they ruin the live servers

the problem with private servers is that they r missing the geodata from retail (which is bugged too btw but not this much) and has to be recreated. most private servers use the same aion core (such as the lightning aion open source project) and modify that as they see fit. thats why many of them share the same bugs

 

lol see, ur quite knowledgeable in this sort of thing, im not i only know what i learn as i go from game to game lol

 

been on this server for 7-8 months now and i always liked helping people out i always liked computers so i help a lot of people with technical problems around here

 

lol just another reason this game stands out amongst the others, i've played countless f2p mmo's and tons of pservers for p2p games, and no matter how nicely u say it or how u word ur question u always seem to get a rude person calling you stupid or insulting you in one way or another, its nice to be able to ask a question and get an answer for once

 

we do have our share of trolls and QQers around here as well. but there r always some people around who r willing to help (as long as ur request is somewhat reasonable which in this case it certainly is)

EDIT: ah just read the official server reboot thread. it would appear that the server crashed and is in need of a restart. that might explain why ur npc never showed up. i suggest u try again later if u dont mind

 

well its nice to meet u ^^ im gonna log in and hope that the 2nd repair worked lol, ill try to contact u in game ^^

in the meantime u might want to grab the laetrix latency fix to help u with ping (delay) in this game as it can be quite annoying

by default, windows sends packets to the server in pairs which means that its always waiting for the 2nd one. this fix edits 2 of ur registry values that basically splits these packets up and allows them to be sent twice as often, effectively cutting ur ping in half

it doesnt work for every1 depending on ur network/router settings and such, but i used to have a ping of 450-550 and now im at around 250 with the fix
