Another good reason why Western Union

Very long essay, but please read in spite. :C



A few days ago, I contributed around $145 CAD to carl via Western Union. Upon confirming everything, I emailed Carl the MTCN, amount, account, everything.

A day later, I get nothing. (which is only slightly surprising, but.)

So, I decided to confirm the status of my donation here, and guess what. Apparently, the MTCN was invalid. Naturally, I was both angered and confused by this. You'd expect stupid Western Union to do their job, and just hand the guy the money!

So, I called them up and they conveniently elaborated that a 'payee of the same name (Jamel francis) isn't allowed to do business with western union, and they had to put a hold on the money as a result, and won't give it to him'. to put it simply, my money is locked.

I mean, what the hell ._. Just give the guy my freaking money! (that's exactly what I said to customer service)

Well, they 'couldn't' because it was 'policy'.

Since WHEN did they hold your money if you're SENDING IT TO SOMEONE. It's been maybe 4 days now, and nothing, they're not willing to let the money go. They explained to me that I need to provide them with the payee's WU ID, and age - and after that they will lift the hold off the money.

So, there I went, emailing carl and asking him if he can give me that information so I can give it to them. WHO DOES THAT. ><

Western Union, **** YOU.

I doubt carl would even want to give me that information, but I still have no idea WHY they won't let the payee have my money. I don't really know what to do about this. ._.

 

You said " isn't allowed to do business with western union" and then they ask for the payee's WU ID, and age? Sounds like to me they don't know what is going on. I would call them again, and if they say the same problem, ask to speak to a supervisor. Explain to them the reason why their own company exists - transport money via electronically, whether you know the person personally or not. That is why there are IDs and such given out and why the Western Union service is avaiable on the internet to move money from one person to another. That's what I would do.

 

This is where direct paypal is usually good, but paypal is a tough option due to past reasons.

@Solaria, I'll go about doing what you recommended, but I've called them twice before and they were pretty adamant...guess I'll have to pop a few veins on my forehead the third time ^^;

@Adieu Yeah, paypal isn't one of my favorites really, but I have contributed through it once or twice. That and I don't like using credit cards online. >_>; thanks!

 

Don't know why you would use WU anyways when you can just use paypal. You might say "because you want an extra 20percent of credits," well guess what you don't get anything extra and the reason because you have to pay taxes when you use WU so that's where your "extra credits" come from. For example, lets say you pay $100 using paypal, you get 10000 credits. Now if you pay $100 using WU you will get 10000 credits + 2000(extra for using WU) but then you don't pay attention to the taxes you might pay by using WU which could be so much more than just using that with paypal.

Western Union: $100 + $30(Taxes) = 12,000 Credits - Total Amount spent: $130.00
Paypal: $120(No Taxes) = 12,000 Credits - Total Amount spent: $120.00

Buddy, let's just say CASH is easier to have in hand than online money. It takes me 8 DAYS to transfer money from my bank account to my paypal, and I refuse to use credit cards. So yes, I don't mind if that pocket money I pay for service gives me that '20 percent bonus'.

(also, the service cost me $10, not even $30. Where did you get $30 from? xD lul, your country?).

Cash: $145
Service: $9.99

Total: $154.99

Bonus: $145.00 + 20 o/o

Eheh.

 

It all depends on the distance and how much is being dealt with

think hes not allowed to do business coz people donate, have fun, claim their money back and leave the server. paypal got pissed too be4

 

Sucks for him, he wouldn't get the money back or whatever he spent it for since he used WU and still get banned
Others would get banned but they would at least get the money back by doing a chargeback or something like that

so did you get your credits at all? i think im having second thoughts on donating via western union now that this happened =.=' (i hope this wont happen to me)

 

Let me tell you a nice story witch i hope will be in attention to Carl also.

Peoples sell fake items via internet and they ask payment made via Western Union. If the buyer accept to wire the money via Western Union, the seller(scamer), give to the buyer the Carl details for western union payment. So practically will say lease wire the money via western union and here are the info you need to complete the transfer. And he give Carl details.

So the buyer who think he will buy that product witch it doesn't exist will wire the money via western union to the info he got from the seller(scamer), he come back and he give to the scamer the MTCN, address etc, all he need to know in order to pick up the money from western union.

So the scamer, will email to Carl and he will say: Hey Carl i have sent you via western union xxx$, here are the info, etc etc....

Carl will go to western union to pick up the money and all will be ok.

BUT

once the poor guy who got raped, he will make complain to western union so western union will put Carl's name on block list and then poor Carl could NOT receive anymore money via western union for dunno how long.
