there is an interesting thing about difference in tomes/jewels. All tomes have 40 macc more than orbs and orbs have 40 mboost more than tome of same grade (not counting bonuses). To get those 40 macc for orbs you'll have to use ~3 manastones and less than 2 manastones to get same boost for tomes. So if you're planning to socket macc and use jewels you lose some stats but if you dont need macc stones in equipment then orbs have advantage. ^^

So if you socket MA you will lose MB ?

 

if you socket MA(2+ stones) in jewel then you lose some MB because its better to use tome instead and insert MB (2 stones) to get same/higher macc and higher MB. But thats if you count base stats only.
