Program for Dual Core stabilization

Im wondering is there any good program that would control or help in dual core CPU usage from games and programs.

Usualy I just set to use one of the cores but that makes applications more laggy, in other hand on dual usage some applications go wild at moments and my screen starts to go black, refresh itself, graphic flickers and the program goes off after some time or stays like that till I move (in games) or reboot PC.

Nothing in my PC is overheating, Im checking that always, just on dual the first core goes randomly to 10-50% usage what makes applications go nuts and turns them off, it can happen couple times a day or won't happen for a week.

 

um...sounds more like a graphics driver crash and reset rather than dual core problem to me

 

Nope, I tried 4 different graphic drivers, didn't change anything and I saw the first core usage when this crap happens plus games like Aion or Ghotica 3 are known of dual core issues.

 

LOL dont remind me >.> gothic 3 has crazy reqs lol. anyways it ran fine on my dual core, just wont run on my quad coz it only supports 2 and my i7 has lower core speeds

btw what graphics card do u have, coz i know all graphics drivers for my geforce card made my games freeze/crash or id get the driver crash/reset messages when my screen went through black a lot. had to tweak the drive manually to get it to work

edit: i remember reading bout this but its only for windows XP (that one had issues with dual cores in the past) and the tool was called AMD optimizer if i remember correctly

 

GeForce 8600GT, driver version atm 8.17.12.6658 (official, downloaded from NVIDIA site for win7).

 

yeah mine was also an official download from the nvidia site for win 7 64bit i have a geforce gtx 260m and yea all their drivers made me crash. this is what i did, might work for u too

1. Download the latest version of RivaTuner here: http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?page=rivatuner

2. Install RivaTuner and Run the program.

3. In the Main tab, click on the arrow next to Customize under Driver Settings to bring up more options then click System Settings (the first Icon)

4. In the Overclocking tab, where it says "Force constant performance level" select performance 3D.

5. Click apply, and reboot the system when prompted.

If for some reason the "Force constant performance level" drop-down is grayed out you will need to go to the "Power users" tab in the initial RivaTuner window. Then click on the "+" next to "RivaTuner \ NVIDIA \ Overclocking". Look for "EnablePerfLevelForcing" and under Value type 1. Click apply, this should allow you to modify "Force constant performance level." Finally, follow steps 3-5 above.

after that aion stopped freezing for me (before, my colors would totally mess up, id get pink lines run through my screen and the pc would totally freeze, had to do a hard restart)

 

Thanks, I will try that and tell how it worked, may even take couple days before it goes nuts again lol.

 

u can also try look up that AMD optimizer for the dual core problems (if thats really ur case)

anyways at least the geforce tweak will get u better fps in games, besides the freezes it also made my fans a LOT quieter (my laptop sounded like a jet engine be4 when i played aion >.>)

 

I got Intel, not AMD processor. The fan sounds don't bother me anyway, my PC is quite silent and I turn sound on loud to irrate my brother hehe.

 

intel didnt have issues with dual cores though maybe ur just being paranoid xD still think its a graphics card problem and not ur processor

 

We will see, all done and I had the option grayed out (how obvious it would happen).
Now lets wait for screen to flicker again.

 

there were steps to follow when its grayed out (i had to do it too) so hopefully u did that lol

also u might need to restart ur pc for it to take effect

OH btw, run rivatuner again and check the driver file list on the main screen, make sure they r all the same version

sometimes there r leftovers from old versions that r the ones causing issues

EDIT: ignore that this 1 is alright, my new driver doesnt even have it. its for the "nvidia display server" etc. i had a problem with another of those dlls, just getting things mixed up

 

I just knew I will have this problem.
Gonna go do it now, good I saved the downloaded driver setup.

 

wait lol check the other ones if they r different versions too, this 1 is fine though xD

 

The rest got same versions, only this one DLL has different.

 

seems like its not even required by anything

if u look at the description and the fact that the new driver doesnt have it at all (mine just doesnt have the file coz i removed the old 1) and it works fine without it, its probably not important

so yeah just try have it optimized for 3d performance and see what happens
