Why is RMT illegal?

Can you....please construct/debate something useful instead of spamming stuff we OBVIOUSLY know?

 

In retail servers many people do it anyway. Just because something is illegal doesn't mean people won't do it. Look at all the hackers and dupers. But if you try an RMT it's really easy to get screwed over. For instance if you buy an account the other person can try and reset his password. Now he has the money and the account and you have crap.

 

And that's why if we can pull it off with people we know well, isn't the risk somehow reduced?

EDIT: Besides, even if RMT is illegal, a first-time-full-account-ban looks too overkill to me.

 

If your talking about RL persons then yes. But should staff make a list of whoever knows who in RL to approve the RMT?
And if your talking about people u think u know quite well in a game. That can screw u over just as hard

 

Well if thats the case (making RMT legal), I would be very mad if I'm Carl because you are making a business and making a profit on my business (free 2 play) without me gaining any profit.

agreee.. but many ppls do that.. and they all just get smarter everyday how to undercover themselves..

Depends on how trustworthy they are. There are lots of people out there that will act like your friend and claim to try and help you and then stab you in the back just because they can.(A few of them are around here*coughs*) Or they are speaking the truth and everything goes smoothly and you have a new level 55 geared account and they have the money and you didn't get caught. But TBH a small percentage of RMT's actually go smoothly as most people either get caught or get scammed.

My point is, a full-strength ban for first-time offenders seems really unnecessarily overkill to many [some] of us.
Or it's just that the staff feel "I'm not gonna take my time investigating/warning/watevs. Permabanned."

 

Well his making a business out of donations. In fact there are many people who became instant millionaire by just organizing a charity.

 

The server needs money, for its expenses or simple for profits. By that view, to a Pserver owner is not right, or advisable to have people doing RMT in their server and not in they donation system.

And also, the donation system, provides a certain degree of security to the user... meaning your money and banks accounts are not in a unsecure information channel.

 

But it has its own hiccups sometimes.

Well yes but those failures are happening now... and only to certain people... while the money of the donation is proven to be done it can be, eventually refunded or used as intented to, because its inside a system. But in a RMT with players you can be scammed and you will never ever see that money again. And you will have no means to persue it. Besides in a unsecure channel a hacker can get info of your accounts and stuff. Not advisable.

 

Doesn't have to always involve money. Some people will get very greedy just to get a position on a website like say a private game server.*coughs* Well I'd better go get some cough medicine or something.

 

because rmt will make the server lose donates...
and servers need donations to keep online...

On retail, it's because RMT sellers are high efficiency players that farm the things to sell. They still pay the same to the server as anyone else. Buyers buy the items and save time by not farming it at a less efficient rate. Thus they achieve their goals faster, and leave the game faster, resulting in a loss for the publishers.

On this dupefest of a server, obvious.

RMT is illegal for the same reason that Multi vote is illegal for the same reason That ABG/EGT are Untradeable without vip... all Same answer = Donate!!
