[Artwork] The Consumers

A 2 week drawing I've been doing and finally finished. A design of one of my characters walking amongst the consumers, trying to blend in. References were used. I'll post the original designs of the character later today.

Thank you, I was thinking of going around London and start taking photos for reference to do this next artwork relating to Mass Effect 3. Maybe add how the Nation Gallery is being destroyed by the Reapers. The trailer inspired me.

I envy your patience though , I could never spend more than 3 days with a single drawing , I'm pretty much rushing myself always to see the result earlier .

 

It's original a reference photo I used, applied my style of painting, added and removed features and such, But it's pretty much an original painting.

 

Yeah I use to be like that but then I started getting more serious, the real world got some real players out there, I got to get my game. I talked to some professional concept artist, let them review my earlier work. They said I lacked structure in my artwork and suggested using references with my ideas to get a concept feel to it, started trying that and it does help, skills and knowledge wise. Using pure instincts without any visual support is tough and it wont get you a job, lol. My teachers use to hate me a lot because I choose to do art without any research/references, cost me a good grade too.

 

I know how you mean , and I guess I won't be able to achieve levels like this since the tattoo'ing is pretty much not this ... should I say accurate .

 

Accuracy is the most important thing in art I guess, the painting skills could be great, but if you lack the eye of accuracy, something in the artwork will look awkward, no matter how well it's painted. I remember a girl in my class debated against my teacher about all it takes is good drawing skills to get the job done, and I had to make a small comment and say "You try drawing New York City without knowledge of what it looks like".

It's quite extrodinary that someone could actually draw that.. it looks so much like a picture. When i first looked at it i thought that the background was a photo and that the mysterious person was painted, but if you look closely in the detail you can see it's slightly painted. Very good you should be well proud of yourself.
