Gladiator Tips & Hints

Alright, i've got a bit of a rant/ask for help thread here. I've been on the elyos side for a long time and i am a gladiator here. I picked that class because i figured it was the best dps and i could take out the elites with it no problem. Well.. i figured wrong. "

I'm level 42 and here is what is bugging me, even with the decent gear i have, all filled with +18 Block mana's i still can't take down elites without dying 4 or 5 times. Hell soloing kratia made me want to punch the screen lol. Now what makes me mad about it, is that unless i do these quests, i might as well look at grinding all damn month. Not going to happen, i will go back to cod4 before i do that.

So here it is, i am asking for help on the best method to level, or what i can invest in to take down these dang mobs. Also let me know a good combo that strikes fear into them. Because honestly, they make me sick with their eliteness lol.

Oh not to mention, how in the hell am i supposed to get 100k abyss points for freaking armor. >_< Just real frustrated right now because it seems like me grinding in this game is becoming pointless.

 

Let's see here.... First of all, as a gladiator, you can pretty much only solo melee elites. Ranged ones will tear through you. Second, you need to move at least as fast as they do.

Block only works if you're using a shield, which works great for a group, but not so much for solo'ing. Use a polearm or greatsword and kite the elites at 3m.

Since you're Elyos, I'd suggest doing both New Wings (Campaign quest in the abyss) and Archon of Storms (Campaign quest in heiron) they'll give you a big bundle of XP to help you level.

Aside from that... it's fastest to level off of monsters roughly your level, non-elites.

Also, abyss gear is attained from PvP, you don't really grind for it.

 

Oh i know about the ranged elites trust me! Lol. I've dealt with them, but what gets me is how the melee ones tackle me so badly. And since the block stones don't work, what should i socket the armor with then?

I've got a nice poleaxe, but have no clue how to kite. >.> Yes i am a noob. While beard was doing it in her i was eating a sammich, so i wasn't paying attention lol.

And i haven't seen those quests yet. Not to mention i know abyss gear is pvp. I'm talking about me getting up to at least 50 to indeed kill asmodians. It seems like it won't happen anytime soon lol.

 

Glads cant solo elites until we're basically decked. Not gonna happen, trust me. Once you're in full anuharts with some taha/extendable you'll be able to solo bosses in DP purely by kiting it. But without that +8% atk speed on gloves and 17-19% on spear/sword you can't get your knockdown chain off fast enough to avoid lots of damage.

Stop worrying about those elite quests. Do some regular quests in the highest town you can, or worry about some of the easier heiron campaign quests like "Light up the Lighthouse", it's basically a 10-20 minute quest for quite a bit of base XP.

Here's the trick though. All you need to do is hit level 48 and the last 7 levels are basically 3-4 hours of work with the right repeatable over in bubu village (brusthonin). If you hit me up (Cirdun ign) when I'm online sitting in panda being bored I'll come out and help you grind out some high XP gain quests to hit 48. If you don't want to wait on that there are some decent 1-2 million base xp quests you should be able to pick up in Beesfer Refugee Camp (beluslan).

And once you hit 48 I'll gladly show you the quest in mumu village that nets like 3 million and repeatable (once you do a quest to open the repeatable), something about hating the brohuns and killing a bunch of them. Stop fkin with the elites though, it's not going to happen.

 

you are lvl 42 ... no really good gear available for you except abyss lvl 40 , or maybe grand cheftain

 

I'm elyos lol. And for now i have been grinding my arse off in theobomos at the big hulk things and the claydon thiefs. Since i have all my normal quests done, except the ones i fked up on, and since we can't abandon those, i can't redo them. So right now all i have left are the elite quests. So it's either that or grinding.

 

Hate to thread necro, but I'd like to note that you can solo anything at any level, provided you can move at least as fast as it can and have a minimum of 1m range greater than they do. It might not be efficient, but it's certainly doable.

I've solo'd hero level bosses higher level than myself on my gladiator, all I needed was the 22% run speed boots :3

 

False, especially for this server.

1) Human error with kiting, you'll need a massive room to make small increments in the angle of your circle otherwise you'll get chipped when you try to make a turn.

2) Nobody on crystal is going to have run speed boots at level 22% unless they specifically go hunt some down, and that probably requires a group at that level to kill the boss that will drop it seeing as prior to killing said boss that may or may not drop your loot you cannot run faster than it.

3) Why would a gladiator at level 42 have an extendable weapon? From chaos? Yeah, can't solo that either.

4) Mobs now have skills and range danceing isn't fixed, if you happen to get chipped (see #1) and that skill gets started, it'll go off.

P.S. no you can't use your aoes unless you ankle snare it first, and I dare you to make a level 42 gladiator level it up like everybody else so you don't have a gear advantage, and then go find a level 40ish elite not surrounded by other elites, so you can kite, and kill it. GL with that ankle snare strafe + aoe spam for the next hour and probably end up letting it reset/getting clipped too many times.

P.P.S. Every decently geared gladiator with half a brain can solo a hero elite, I killed Commander Bakarma the other day prior to server shutdown so atleast that's something to look forward to for future level 50-55 gladiators.
