kudos for you man... nice attitude you have there.

But as someone said, Pservers are illegal in a sense, so paying people in that case its also illegal.... I dont know, Carl aint doing things right... its obvious that he is still carring this luggage with him just because of the money he might be earning. Thats the general opinion here... Anyway, I support your way of thinking, and I hope your project meet success... the frog jumps for money after all.

I agree with exidoid too, but only to a certain extent...
You have your reason to be a Staff member, you uphold those reasons because you know is the right thing to do, and it is. But things is, people take for granted that is your "job" (from both sides), players see you as the visible face of the administration of the server, and for them, you have to fullfill that role, that they dont know the full extent of your responsabilities is not their problem. Same happens for the higher ups, they know the full extent of your responsabilities, but they expect that you perform the duties assigned to you.. and to perform well. Thats why it needs to have some sort of payment... people in the end, takes for granted that you take crap just for the thanks, and it becomes status quo. The feeling of genuine thanks for the help you provided is quite nice and it fills you, but that its a short term satisfaction... that motivation dies with the crap eventually, and you develop a resistance to it, then you dont care anymore. Some can keep going like that for good, other just cant.

 

NCSoft's ToS is as valid as our ToS.

To the best of our knowledge (fun phrase in court) we never agreed to their ToS. As such, we are not bound by it. Even if we were, it's a ToS. For a court to acknowledge their ToS as being valid, it would also have to acknowledge our ToS which nullifies theirs.

We also are not modifying the client in any way, thus respecting their intellectual property.

We have not used any of their code and they also have no grounds to take us to court over that matter either. If they did, they would be required to reveal their code and point out exactly what we used of theirs and prove that we stole it from them.

Basically, as far as legallity, being a closed source private server that isn't based on any of the main projects (we forked back in the aionemu days almost two years ago before any real progress was made) does give us a lot of ground to stand on in a court of law.

And that's assuming we're talking about US law which doesn't even apply to all members of our group.

I think NCSoft realizes that private servers do help them in the long run because it increases awareness of the game (especially a game like Aion which is losing more players than it's bringing in and will not be sustainable like L2 was/is).

And on a side note, while most of the time I can be an ******* to players and whatnot, I do have a lot of respect for those on our team who help the server continue on. Things get done because I don't bullshit around. It's just how more people need to be. Call out the idiots and force them to learn to help themselves and over time, everyone is better for it.

lol.. players -- well most of us here -- should give thanks to Gamez Aion handler for letting us play this game FREE -- this may be a private server... but that person is generous and kind enough to spend money for game maintenance... including the hardware maintenance just to give players a CHANCE TO PLAY THIS GAME FREE -- my point is that.. if you're a player you have 2-choice... play and vote OR play and donate ... but donation -- as the word itself... is a voluntary act.. not compuslary.

instead of being angry to these people who are trying and doing their best or even not their best just to help us all and enjoy playing here... why not thank them and undertsand their situation... you guys don't know how to actually run and handle a big MMORPG with thousands of players... even the legal servers are shutting down becuase of mismanagement and mishandling of game problems.

just give them enough time fix the problem... and just enjoy playing the game they are offering or should i say.. provided for FREE!!

and learn to respect officers... youre not in their position... try to avoid insulting them... it wont help fix the problem and youre not helping them.

 

While I don't particularly enjoy the insults and stuff myself, you do realize that there are several other servers, all of which are free, that put more time and effort into making the players happy?

P.S. - Don't try to pull the "you dont know how to actually run and handle a big MMORPG" argument. Probably close to the entirety of the people posting in this thread know as much and/or more than you do about running servers. Most of which have either had their own server or are currently running their own server as we speak. Is that "knowing" enough for you?

3. They knew from the start that they where not going to be paided, so why would they fuss over it?

When I was on staff, i never even thought about being paided. And when you think about it, he is paying us all buy letting us play on his server. I enjoy helping people, he gave me that opportunity, thats way good enough for me.

the very reason why this game is full of cheaters is because players -- some of may be many dont know how to satisfy on playing the game according to the wants and deicsion of the game handler.

If you think there are other better Aion PS than this... why stay here?

you see.. if players can't help to improve the game.. better shut up... or if you want to help and offer a helping idea -- speak and write it in a nice way... the problem of some players here is that, they think they have better ideas than the one who is running this PS... that they are much better than the one providing this PS....

if you think you guys are better... you guys are brilliant... you guys are good than the game provider -- why stay here?

the reason why you stay here.. i will tell you... this game is still the best for you... and you already spend time and efforts here playing and having fun with other players and friends... but becuase of the unwanted changes and becuase you dont accept the reality that bad things happen and you are really really affected... you guys almost want to kill them ^^

what you can do as a PLAYER ... be a good PLAYER -- dont hack -- dont cheat...

Yo oOMastersniperOo, I'm really happy for you and Imma let you finish, but Gamez has some of the BEST EXPLOITS of all time.

The reason this server has so many cheaters is simply because the administration allows it. If Carl and Evilset didn't want people to cheat, they'd fix the exploits that allow players to cheat (it's been done on other servers, I promise!).

Anyways , Gamez would freaking dominate if Carl would think a little bit & do what infinite aion developers do .
Higher some real developers for like 2-3k monthly not freaking nab broken patch pasters ...

I have absolutely no problem with not getting paid for this so called job and i dont believe i work for Carl ... i work for all the ppl here that need help and guidance. I do all i can to help out and try to solve issues ig and here on forums. The paycheck i'd like to receive tho would be some nice words , appreciation from players and not only rages, insults and god knows what else ...
There are only few members that actually appreciate what we do and understand that we "donate" our time for them. Big Thanks to them and to u for thinking about us.

 

To me, I think that GMs & AMs are working hard not slacking at home waiting for cashflow via donation because I can see that the old bugs were fixed and the new has come. I believe these problems gives them more challenging to them in this server in order to let us play better in Gamezaion in the future. And I think is not easy being a GM or AM, because lets just say that our job is simple here, what we do is only play their server and give support to their server by voting, inform them if we facing any bugs. As for GMs/AMs, they don't get to play much because they had to fix a lot of stuff like bugs, server crashes & dealing with impatient & childish players. Come on guys stop this raging and flaming and think positive... if those GMs were to be nasty they should already done it earlier. Beside that why think so much where are your money goes when you donated to them? Knowing too much will only leads you to misery. For me, I'll carry on play and wait for the better patch to come & do some donations whenever I wanna get items.
