    i found the diary but it wont seem to complete for me to move on...

    check your inventory...the quest item is there...use it.
    PS. I've completed the quest. The assistant's journal (different from the diary), which you'll have to find after collecting the four orbs, is in the library in theobomos lab. good luck!
