    Short version:

635 is the new soft cap if you assume all of your targets are fully +15 on their armor.

    Long Version:

Crit resist works as a simple subtraction formula. So, normally if you had 130 crit you'd have a 13.0% chance to crit your target with 0 crit resist, however, when your target has 130 crit resist your crit chance % drops to 0%.

Critical Attack Chance - Critical Resistance Chance = Actual Critical Chance

However, because this is a private server, and everybody has the potential to +15 their gear easily, you should assume that your targets all have +195 crit resistance. Therefore, in order to reach the same 44% crit chance from having 440 crit, you would need to stack your crit to 635 to offset that +195 crit resist and retain your 44%.

Basically, to answer your question, if you want to remain soft capped for crit against +195 crit resist targets, you'll need to cap off at 635 crit. If you stay at 440 crit, you will only have a 24.5% chance to crit.

Bad: Going beyond 668 crit is the worst thing you can do. This is why:

473 crit: 46.5% chance to crit (0 crit resist)
604 crit: 48.3% chance to crit (0 crit resist)

    473 crit + 195 (to compensate for 195 crit resist) = 668 crit
^ anything beyond that point, as you can see, will hardly affect your crit chance, as adding another 131 crit only gives 1.8% crit chance.

Not sure if clora was talking about strike resists or not, but he did say 540 was the new soft cap, since we updated to 1.9.

Oh yeah, 440 was never the max, 440 is the soft cap, which I'm sure everyone has heard a million times, after 440(540) you still get crit, while it slowly declines.

No, you're wrong about the purpose of his question. He wants to know the ideal crit rate for a ranger, not softcap breakpoints.

He specified 440 in his first post, which is the soft cap.

I don't get what you're saying, all classes have the same cap.

That's not asking for the ideal rate, he obviously doesn't know about soft/hard caps (not that it's bad not to know). But there is no actual max, there's just a point where crit stops increasing (above 2000).

you want your crit and attack to balance so 440 would be average you could go higher but i dont think it would be effective lol

This isn't rocket science, just because it doesn't increase as much doesn't mean it's as effective, after counting debuffs, and strike resists, you might as well go as high as you can.

My recommendation: Every melee class should at least be at 600. Scrolls & such can bring it higher.

Actually, I'm going to tell you about my little test.

    Victim: Balaur Assaulter. (DP)

Class: Glad, Dual-Wield, Sword & Mace.

    - Test 01 -
Stats: 580 crit, 640 attack.(Not exact values, but somewhat close)

    DPS: 1300.

Now I revamped my build a bit.

    - Test 02 -
Stats: 680 Crit, 600 attack. (Not exact values, but somewhat close)

    DPS: 1800.

I did multiple tests of each, both generally stayed static.

Now this is PvE, where mobs don't lower your crit rate and such, think how PvP is.

540 soft + 195-210 enchant resist (Spec OP wings give 15 resist) means your goal should be around 750. This means pretty much any physical dps class should run around in full crit sets.

    Thank you autumn.

Oh, and don't forget about PvP accessories, if your opponent has all 5 of the lvl 55 ones, that's 51 more strike resist.

+15 armor is 195 total strike resist.

    Wings for +15

If you meet a donator, he has 261 strike resist.

So yeah, get that crit up.
