Okay this just happened and it was so damned pathetic that I just... urgh. Need to post on it =p

Why is it, that people whom of which have engrish as their first language ("Native tongue") can't even speak properly? I was just walking off of the bus going to lecture when I had some douchebag knock me as I was jumping out the side to the sidewalk... and he said, quote unquote:

    "I could care less."

I'm sorry, but this is a brilliant example of what I am talking about... at best society is so fullllllll of unoriginality it isn't even funny.

Nota bene: Obviously, the douche meant "I couldn't care less". Otherwise, it wouldn't have occured ;3

WHY is it that non-native english speakers speak english better than those who do, and yet native engrish speak0rz scrutinize others for not being perfect?

I think it has to do with English people being so used to using it that they no longer really bother. While on the other hand people from other countries tend to use it more for business, making them more careful about their choise of words and having correct spelling. From my understanding English people usually dislike the accent of non-native speakers as they are not used to it and it makes it difficult for them to perceive what is being said.

Then it is also worth remembering that a person from an English speaking country usually has a different knowledge about the language. As an example: I know the meaning of words like discombobulate or belligerent, but a few weeks ago I had to ask a friend what saucepan was in English - I hardly think that an English speaking person would have to do that.

On a side note, "I could care less." would imply that he could care less about said event and not that it did not occur. So the meaning changed from that he did not care to that he could care less but woulden't(correct me if I misunderstood you).

Uh, they just couldn't care less? :p

Seriously speaking, well. I can not say that I am so PRO on speaking such language. It's not as well my first language but a second one so let's say I really have a little knowledge on how to speak clearly and correctly.

But, I, myself having troubles sometime. In my case and in my opinion, it is really hard to master any kind of language even you use it like, everyday.

I know I might sound stupid but I can't even master my own and first language. At school, it's the subject I am having more trouble with than my English class. Something I even found harder than Math :( I speak great when I am speaking the modernized style of my language. It's a lot easier since I grew up with it. But the deeper ones? I just can't say them, use them, or even define them when I am being asked. So what I am just doing, I just use the most normal or common words that everyone can understand. I don't use deeper ones just to look smart - Oh no! In my country, it just wont work that way. They will think you live in the ancient times when you use the not-so-popular terms :p

This happens in each and every country. Romanians can't be arsed to speak proper Romanian, so yeah, it happens everywhere.

I second what Dranzell said. It's happening everywhere and there could be plenty of reasons for why. However, I do believe it's because it's easier to just not care anymore. We're writing 2011 now and everywhere we go new things pop up. Faster ways to get from A to B and easier ways to send a message.

I mean, it's easier and faster to write: lfg 4 (insert name of instance) instead of: looking for group for (insert name of instance)

;s It's just how it is...

    (THE WORLD IS DOOMED!)

Not really, but if you happen to write like "Hi u wanna grp wif me? lolkthxbai" :p You probably don't want to write a letter to the Queen of England.

English isn't my native tongue, but I speak it better than most of my white friends. HOWEVER, when you're born from another nation you're pretty much born with an accent, and twist vowels up every now and then. xD

I forgot what else I was going to say.. but it was goin' to be inspiring.

Much like myself actually. :p I'm from Denmark, but over the years I've become better at English. :) However, if you for example move to USA or England and live there for a few years xD I'm pretty darn sure you'll return with either an american accent or an english/british one. :p

Yeah, haha. I had a Japanese friend who invited me to go back with her for a summer and her parents said she talked funny.
    It's funny how that works.

I still talk kinda silly sometimes. I was English AP throughout high school. Because I could BS a mean essay. ^^
