My thoughts on how to survive on GameZ and other private servers.

GameZ Aion is a delicate and tempermental little baby that has to be approached with kid gloves. Some things here can be said to be true for all private servers. This is not an all encompassing text that will include specifics on individual classes or playstyles, but it should help in some small little way.

#1. Dont expect the private server to emulate the actual game. After all, you left the actual game and came to the private server for a reason. Accept that things in the private server will be different, for good or bad.

#2. Do some homework on the game in general. Find out what the differences between the private server and the actual server are. This can be done in several ways, you dont even have to ask questions, just pay attention to the forums, questions in general chat, and reading and listening to your guild chat and in vent.

#3. Expect the unexpected. Things on private servers can, and will, change drastically. Expect updates to introduce bugs. Expect fixes to break things. Prepare for downtime and dont be shocked at rollbacks.

#4. Bugs are not your friend. Neither are hacks. Private servers are a little slow sometimes in dealing with bugs and hacks, but dont think the people running the server wont catch you. Just like real police forces all over the world rely on private citizens to help them catch the bad guys. Your speed hacking, no animation hacks and other things might give you a momentary thrill of victory, but when you try to log in and it says something to the tune of, "You cannot connect to the game through this ip." Well, dont say no one warned you.

#5. People who run private servers are human and bound to make mistakes. They didnt create the code, nor do they have all the code to play with. Fixing some things might be impossible. Balance will be next to impossible. Best thing to do it help by giving as much information about the real game, backed with ss from the real game, video, or as much useful detail as possible. Or when you post in the forum, if your going to whine about shit and not post any relivant information, please start the thread with a realistic title, "I dont know how to fix this, but it sucks." is usually a good one.

#6. Not everyone can understand you. With so many different cultures and languages connecting to the private server you will have a hard time communicating. Say simply what you want. If the guy doesnt respond or ignores you, just assume he speaks little of your language and is not a goddamn noob with brain cell damage issues.

#7. The server is only as good as you make it. Players, not the server owner, make the game enjoyable. A good community on a bad server will still be fun. A bad community on a good server will not last. Be kind to others, and things will be enjoyable.

Better game is RL. There are no any other game with more lively colors xD

 

I agree with your post but i believe we all know that stuff already -.-' (even the retarded ones who can't speak english..)

 

Should add: For the first 3 months of you play, you will be raped sideways by full abg players.

Just so people know what they are getting into.

 

Also - be as friendly as you can to others because you never know if you'll need their help at some point and in this game people don't forget when you're rude to them.

 

Funny thing is how fast people forget all the good you have done for them, but they are stucked on one bad thing only.

Probably that happens for some but the guys I've been playing with for over a year now - we fight like family at times and get over it soon enough. Always over the silliest things too.

but giving personal insights on what could be better is also a good thing, eventho sometimes ppl categorized them as QQ'ers nowadays.. while its actually a good will/intention to make things better, things will only get worst if everyone simply stop to care & move along

criticism is sometime needed to make things better, but it will only be a grain/miligrams to add on a pair of scales to weigh on.. no more & no less
