    Aion's EMU is Java based.

Also, I find Java is a great language to start with. Python would be second.

for obvious reasons :p open source doesnt end well. its like shooting urself in the foot. most people r greedy and just run their own private server while few do the work. also its VERY disorganized since people code in different styles. makes it hard to follow and clean up other peoples mistakes

yea i used their site for html and css as well, its awesome ^^

open source can work out pretty good. Look at l2j for example. How long are they going on about it(if they still are alive).
But that was a steady team and community.
Ofcourse u always have people like "cough" this certain server admin and ex developer here "Cough" who force emu's to go closed source yes.

    Anyway. back to topic xD

    Hello,

You should download Eclipse on Eclipse - The Eclipse Foundation open source community website. and have a play around with code. You can copy and paste random bits of code from the internet and editing, see what errors come up up and how to fix them. Another way (The way I got started) is to watch a guy on YouTube called thenewbosten he is really good at explaining Java. He also teaches other code and script as well!
