Since Alente was the one who posted this, I made the title with the intent that he would read this but if Ashtar or any GM would like to take charge and respond to this, the response is also welcomed.

I was just reviewing the updated http://forum.gameznetwork.com/f5/[official]-server-rules-21-7-a-87934/ and I think it would wise to promote this update in-game. Perhaps make it an automated message to point players to read the server and forum rules.

Most people do not come to the forum unless they're told to do so in-game and I would hate to see such important information to go unnoticed by a large part of Gamez community.

I also think that it would be somewhat important to have this kind of information, translated to the main languages spoken in-game (non-english speaking community).

    1- English (done)
    2- Spanish
    3- Tagalog
    4- Portuguese

Reason being, although it's ok to say "This is in the rules, you should've known this... BANNED", there are a lot of players that might not understand everything that is in the rules because it's a language they do not dominate, they might not even read the entire thread thoroughly.

I wouldn't mind to collaborate to translate it to Spanish if necessary.

I just thought this would be helpful to ensure that the community is well informed about important information and updates.

I also made a suggestion for something that could be useful to the staff and facilitate how GM/HGM communicate forum updates and forum information thru the game.

    DAMNIT MINA

    As soon as I read

"eason being, although it's ok to say "This is in the rules, you should've known this... BANNED", there are a lot of players that might not understand everything that is in the rules because it's a language they do not dominate, they might not even read the entire thread thoroughly.

I thought, better use google translate.

LOL well played Mina. Well played.

Thanks for you suggestions but that's besides the points. Perhaps you didn't read the whole thread and the additional suggestions thread.

I don't want to explain myself all over again because it takes time to sit, ponder and type stuff like this but just to put it simple.

    1) Most people do not use the advanced search function.
    2) the normal search does not allow you to search by a thread unique number and it generates several results when searching for a thread.
    3) The purpose is for GMs to advertise in-game by just an unique thread number.

There are other several reasons why I'm suggesting the quick thread search function.

As for google translate, it's not 100% reliable to translate from english to the languages listed above.

This is about making it easier for the players and the community (by having the information already there) and to ensure that whatever information Gamez needs to provide the community, is easily accessible.

Edit: Wrong thread, but this is a good idea. Would take a little bit of work though.

I agree with this and I think suggesting google translator is a bit close-minded >.> considering that people who can't speak English well and instead opt to use the google translator make posts so horrifically bad that nobody can understand a word they're saying.

i didn't read the whole text because i was doing my hw, just passed by and saw ur thread tho, but:
All functions were made for users to use them, so, if you don't use it doesn't mean that function isn't good :)
Besides, the rules, important news always be posted in Announcement section and there ain't many threads there, you may no need to search.
agree, but google still can help you understand 60-80% what the content means, well, if the staff has time to translate to another languages that will be cool, but google translate imo is good enough...

Think of the Spanish speakers who believe that Google Translate actually understands their slangs, abbreviations and whatnot.

It is a good idea, anyways google translate was never meant for large amounts of translations. I remeber trying to use it in Spanish class and my teacher would laugh at what I wrote...

@Zee, tbh and thanks god, most european seem to know English well. I'm speaking at my bulgarian friends. A regular 9-10 years old bulgarian kid understands pretty much everything in that rules thread.

And a regular high school kid can write one like that.

Then I guess you missed the part when I said that "Most players do not visit the forums" which is one of the reasons why advertising a specific thread in-game and having an easy-to-find function helps on the forum helps.

This isn't just for GMs but also for regular users that want others to come checkout a specific thread they started (such as an event thread, etc...)

I've seen myself in that situation before and if it had been possible for me to say in-game "search for post 88349" rather "http://forum.gameznetwork.com/f63/%40alente-any-hgm-gm-88349/" (this is an example). it would've been easier.

It would be easier for GMs to direct users to read something in specific if it was necessary.

Anyway, you have your own point of view about my suggestion and I'll respect it. I just didn't want you to miss the point of the suggestions I made.
