Anyone running AION with Vista? Got a question/problem.

    Aight, so I didn't see any technical section, if there is one, I apologise, it's like 2:47am here lol.

    ANYWHO.

    So vista, dreaded dreaded DREADED OS, but don't have enough dough to get me win7 just yet and apart from this problem, vista seems to be doing alright.

    Only seems to be with AION too, on random occasion's it'll freeze my explorer.exe and any extra programs opened afterwards. This also includes task manager, which is quite a pain.
    Only way of fixing it is through logging off or restarting.

    Anyone else got this problem? And if so, found a way around it?

    Used Vista for 4 years, not even once did I encounter problems. You might have some third party applications or other crawlers you got in your system. That's the only thing that causes problems, OS doesn't matter

    Yeah man I love Vista, I'm running 64 bit home premium and I barely have any issues.

    Well, hmm... I have Vista Ulti 64 bit.

    Spec's are:

    955BE
    4gb
    460gtx
    (those would be the core players in this)

    It's odd that I'm the only person getting this error (Regii get's it too :c so I'm not alone here) and it seems to only happen with Vista. I mean, I can still play and all, but yeah, I can't open anything else. Surely, someone else must've been getting a freezing explorer.exe?

    Also, I do notice that Vista is a RAM guzzler, well, only for AION actually, it seems to throttle around 80-90% of my ram being used :/
    Kinda dodgy, seeing as it's just one program. Reckon it'd still be an issue with a 3rd party app? Cause, this has been happening since I downloaded AION and it's just hit that point of rage lol.

    BTW! I wasn't hating on VISTA (ok, maybe a tiny bit) but yeah lol, it hasn't let me down, apart from this little issue and the excessive use of ram and cpu, but I don't really care about that.

    On-topic, it's AION bound (I was suspecting it for ages, you can kinda tell from my posts lol)
    ANYWAY, just tested it. Stress tested my PC for an hour, absolutely nothing wrong.
    Used...
    Prime95 - cpu is stable @ 3.8ghz
    Memtest - memory is fine, but I'll do it for another 24 hours later on just to be sure
    Furmark - stable @ 850/2200 ;)

    Also just went on Black Ops, which is a terribly demanding game for what it offers. AND, nothing, it plays well, no issues at all :/

    Aion memory management is terrible. It sucks a lot of memory hence all the memory leak causing game crashes.

    I see, so I wasn't wrong. Thanks for clearing that up ;)

    I'll see if my little problem is due to running in windowed mode. (you never know)
