I just started here a few days ago but played on retail for years so know the ropes (pun intended). Here I have used over 100 ropes and managed to tame only TWO horses. I have caught hundreds of horses on retail so something is seriously wrong here. Several others when I asked on chat have indicated they have been having the same problem since last patch. I have tried turning graphics as low as possible and turning off most enhancements and far distance things, and it seemed not to make a difference. My fps hangs around 60 and I am using a wired keyboard on a pretty decent system. In my google research, I did find on the retail BDO forums similar complaints back in January which were finally resolved towards end of February there. I understand we are a few patches behind here and wonder if that means there is hope for this getting better here as patches progress?

Granted, I haven't been trying to tame horses, however I have noticed on both here and retail that people have said the taming horses seems to be a bit weird lately. I've noticed that despite turning off enhancement alerts, loot etc, it still spams in chat and on my screen, which literally causes my frames to go to 1 sometimes when I am outside of towns, in towns...forget about it lol. For me when I am outside of towns my ping is in the 400's+, inside it's around 50-100 (mostly because of the horses and all the player's loading at once lol).

Even if I go back to character select and re-join it still does it despite all the alerts being turned off. Not really sure why that is, could be a bug I guess. Same with the horses, RNG is involved with the taming of them I believe as a friend told me, but ye seeing how much people are failing at them it's not really the norm. That could be a bug too, especially if retail is experiencing the same thing. Maybe the Random Number Generator is off in it's code, like let's say instead of a 10 it's at a 3 right now which is possible you know?

well, all I can say about the subject is that once upon a time there was a way to tame horses almost garanteed, once you had gotten to the horse itself that is: After you have done the minigame and gotten all up close to the horse, then all you have to do is wait for about 30-45 seconds before trying to mount it.

That used to work, but as @Wraithhunter has pointed out, there might have been some changes made to the code regarding Horse Taming in general, so it might not work anymore.

I got the same problem too. I'm a returning player in this server. I used to tame a lot of wild horses back in the day. As usual, I went to the spot near Lynh Farm Ruins, put on my trainer's clothes and Venia Suit. It took me about 30 ropes to catch a tier 2 horse which is insane.
However, the next day I came back to the same spot, using my regular amour set and Kibelius costume, it took me just a couple tries.
One other thing I noticed was my Karma points. I murdered someone and it was low. My pets have +22% Karma recovery so I was quite confident to kill monsters at the spot I killed the other guy. LOL. After 30 minutes, my Karma points went down to about -25000. And at this point, I asked other people in the chat how it happened, someone told me that the pets had some problems lately about that, so I tried not to summon them when killing monsters, my Karma points went up again. I'm talking about this because I know there are some of the bonuses don't work properly. You can just try to re-log in, turn off any bonuses you have and catch the horses. This method's been serving me well for the time being.
