No idea if anyone knows about it. But somewhere early in the year was announced that The Elder Scrolls will be jumping to an MMO platform. For many, me included, is like an slap in the face; yet is understandable given the amount of money an MMO that succeed can make.

So! This video here shows how the thing may look like. To be honest, is pretty, seems the game will encompass the 8-9 provinces of Tamriel, and even there are some scenes that show Akaviri architecture, a pretty expansive world it seems. For that who are wondering, no, the game does not happen or is a continuation of Skyrim; this game will happen in the 2nd Era, while Skyrim occurs in the 4th.

The company that is making the development is Zenimax, under the eye of Bethesda. So, maybe we won´t loose our single player world of Elder Scrolls and we could actually hope for a N° 6 after some years.

Things that I noticed that are annoying, seems that the game will work with class system(?) Contrary to the "be whatever you want to be" style of game Elder Scrolls is famous for; which in my opinion will simply ruin it.
And also skills based combat system, press a number and the toon does some action type of thing.

Well, still this seems to be on wraps, so who knows. But the whole concept does not appeal to me at all. But who knows? maybe it could end as the best stuff out there in a long, long time.

It'll be bad just like Star Wars was bad.

The general Elder Scrolls formula is large worlds (yay!) with weird features, hopelessly bugged mechanics, expansive but inevitably repetitive content, and dungeon copypasta.

Even with the minimal involvement of Bethesda I can't see that changing much.

The Elder Scrolls series has never been a great series, it's been good but community modding is what makes it attractive in the end. Always puzzled me why some people choose the console versions over the PC ones when their overall value down the track is pretty poor compared to a modded PC client. Even if you avoid complete overhauls and new features from the mod community the amount of bug fixes and graphical tweaks is astounding. MMOs just don't facilitate that so you're more or less being sucked in by nostalgia and some popular IP. Enjoy the hype.

I agree until the part of "The Elder Scrolls series has never been a great series"... sounds like an absolute truth born from a personal opinion.

    But its ok.

The game is not for everyone, but is the lore and story that makes it attractive. The mod is just the cherry of the cake I think.

Honestly I would prefer they started to work in 6th game in High Rock. Bretons need to shine as well.
