So recently there were a few events that would be worth mentioning however I will just stick with one of them.

I do not blame anybody and don't want to create a negative feeling however I do quite feel that people aren't recognized for their work. (No, I do not include myself personally)
I will not give any names however I am quite sure most of us will know who I am talking about. In recent "photoshop" events, we have had quite a few awesome entries which were liked by the public, however the votes always came out differently. When the thread says, "Will be voted by staff" how is this voted, is it biased in any way? I am asking this because I feel like most of these "results" are biased and some of the entries are kind of shown... favoritism if I shall call it that. Also, who is voting from the staff members, I've seen some results about the latest FB Cover event that around "20+" staff members voted for a single entry and another "20" for the second, this makes 40 staff members in total, but please, tell me who on earth are those "staff" members. (Yes I may be wrong as I do not recall where I saw these figures, don't kill me for it.)

Please don't think that I am only making this thread for the prizes or anything of some sort, the winners did a good job and I do respect the staff members' opinion. I am not starting anything here, just saying that something isn't quite right.

The way voting was done ever since the creation of the event (and I do believe until now) is that, a staff can vote his/her 3 best entries for him/her hence the totality of participants' votes (20+). It was done this way to give more room for their personal choices since as you have said, given the number of great entries it's really hard to vote for just one.

Alright I was guessing it something of sort, however are they shown the entry only or the names of the people as well? Also I doubt they really paid attention when the rules said .

Lol I should be the one to answer you that c:

Let me assure you that 90% of the time, staff votes for what they like. Take Brai and Gabi for example, when I was in bad terms with them, they still supported my entries and voted for them because they actually liked them.

And the fact that Painless (who just joined the whole FB cover trend) won first place, even though practically no one knew him, should ring a bell xD

If you want to win, try harder. Most of the time when I post my entry and I see someone else posting something that I find better than mine, I change mine up a bit or make one from scratch. I've done it many times. You can try that too!

A thread is created in the Staff hall quoting all the participants' entries. So yes, all entries are visible in 1 place prior to voting.

Oh trust me, I couldn't have tried harder. I never post a piece of work without making sure I gave it all I had. Guess throwing together simple stock photos would grant me more success next time. Anyway, thanks for the cheering up ;) (!)

By the way, I am not really talking about Gabi or staff members who are closer to us and we kind of know them better, but who on earth are the "behind the scene" staff.

"Throwing together a couple stock photos" is nothing bad and shouldn't be considered bad. You don't need to have a hyper-realistic photo with a thousand layers to make something appealing to the eye. Art is not about overdoing it, (which I should keep reminding myself, because I always overdo it), art is about making things that people like seeing. There's no rule saying that if you just throw a couple things together then it's automatically bad.

Most of the time, the simplest of pictures are the best ones.

I have no deal in this, but I just wanted to tell you that art isn't about making stuff people like. Art is a passion. Art isn't about pleasing others.

By "people", someone might mean "you". It doesn't have to be "the crowd". :)

The Facebook cover winners are determinated by staff voting, each staff member votes for their top 3 favorite sumbissions.
However, you have to consider that the Facebook cover is our facade to the public.
We are looking for something impressive which helps us to advertise Gamez, we are not looking for amazing paintings and complicated artworks which have absolutely nothing to do with our mark.

If you feel like someone's work wasn't recognized, you are probably correct.
We are looking for the best 3 covers for our facebook page, they have to represent Gamez and they have to follow the given theme, that's it.
The appearance and the appropriateness of the picture is foundamental.
You can spend 10 minutes creating your entry, or 10 hours, what matters is the final product.

    You don't like our choice?
Art is not objective, it is subjective. If the majority of the staff likes a certain entry, it will win.

Personally, i consider it of really bad taste to complain about the decisions of a jury, expecially in art-contests.
Closing this since it has no reason to exist.

"Passion: strong and barely controllable emotion."

Liking/loving something is a pretty strong emotion. If you're able to convey your ideals into art to make someone like it enough to cast a vote on it, then it deserves that vote. Though this is very subjective, some art can be very controversial in their expression and thus displeases people. Despite art been a tool of expression, it also needs to please others to gain popularity.

As to the question on how the votes are counted. The staff (AMs and Mods) votes on their favourites in ranking of 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Depending on which AM is hosting, the tally system goes like this: The person who gets 1st vote will gain 3points, 2nd will gain 2points and 3rd will gain 1point. Thus the tally total will turn out to be 20-30s as a number, as this number increases depending on number of staff voted.
