My friend was not able to register because:

So i tried to register for him, and then I got

Finally I found a thread like this. Ok, so I too was trying to register for a new forum account; however, when I clicked done.. I got this message"Registration denied, this forum runs an active policy of not allowing spammers. Please contact us via the "Contact Us" page link if you believe this is in error". I have no idea I received this, or why I'm even receiving this message, because I haven't been in forum for centuries, and I haven't spammed in my life/past ever. In my opinion, this is a bug, and it needs to be fixed AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Not sure why there's a need for multiple forum accounts?

 

because some of the events have prizes for participation? just thought of that as I would have thought to do the same if I was so desperate to get them prizes.

 

and what about the people who share the same computer and IP address? they also get blocked for 'spam' and they aren't creating multiply accounts.

 

Note how I quoted the one person who said they were making multiple forum accounts, I did that for a reason.

Even if they weren't creating multiply accounts either way they would still get blocked for 'spam' so it's a problem that needs to be fixed regardless.

Can't say I see why a two year old necro was necessary.

I've browsed through the server logs and either the yahoo email address you're using to create a new account (ae****sad**@yahoo.com) or your IP address have been flagged recently on the anti-spam system our forum is a part of.

Either way I fail to see the need for you to create a new account when you seem to have a perfectly usable forum account right here.

I get the impression you misunderstand how our anti-spam works.

The system we use does not automatically block accounts that share an IP address nor does it start banning people if there are too many accounts on a single IP, if that were the case you would never see couples or net cafe users posting on our forums. Things are set up to block known/flagged users (IPs/Emails) from creating new accounts to spam with. It does not affect existing accounts and being added as a flagged account is not automatic - that has to be done manually either by us or another forum that's on the same anti-spam network we are.

Back to the poster though, I see no reason as to why you would need a second account so your request to bypass the anti-spam system is sadly denied. If you think your request still has merit then you're welcome to explain it to me via forum PM but the reason will have to be pretty good.
