Forum Suggestions

Hello fellow players, moderators, aion masters, administrators,

Just recently I have introduced myself over at the Socialized Section. And as I mentioned over there, I have played a lot of MMORPG's and managed a lot of communities. I know that Gamez Aion has been around for quite some time now and I can see that this community forum has a lot of potential waiting to be unlocked. Unlocked by increasing professionality on the forums, and applying some adjustments to make the forums more eye friendly to all existing and upcoming users. I will explain these below.

With increasing professionality I take in consider the following:

1. Fix all forum descriptions.

  [*=1]Currently there are descriptions with double usage of the question mark "??" and a space in between the end of a sentence and an exclamation mark "!". (eg. "Having problems with your Account / Character / Server ?? Post your problem in this section and our Staff team will help you !")
  [*=1]There should be no questions asked in a description. (eg. "Have Questions about the game? post it here !" could be "For questions about the game")
  [*=1]Currently some descriptions end with a point "." and some don't. And usage of capital letters is flawed. (eg. Below the Hot Spam forum.)

With applying some adjustments I take in consider the following:

1. Remove "Private Messages", "Calendar", "Forum Actions", "Today's Posts" from the navigation bar.

• Private messages can be accessed by clicking on "Inbox" in your notifications next to your username in the header.
• The Calendar is an unused feature among a lot of vBulletin forums.
• The General Settings & Edit Profile links in forum actions is also already next to your username. Move "mark forums read" to Quick Links.
• "Today's Posts" in the quick links navigation is already located at the very beginning of the navigation bar by clicking on "new posts".

2. Remove today's birthdays below currently active users in "What's Going On?"

  [*=1]Happy birthday, but this is not necessary to present on the forum homepage.

3. Remove "Spammy Posts Automatically Moderated" by GlowHost Spam-O-Matic in "What's Going On?"

• 
  [*=1]It's adding a break which looks unprofessional.

4. Change the administrator control panel & moderator control panel directory locations.

• 
  [*=1]Security purposes. Currently they are located in the default path /admincp/ and /modcp/.
  A password to access those directories for a second layer security can work too.

5. Add/refine a wider section of social boards.

• 
  [*=1]A wider and section of social community forums with clear overview will increase interaction among users. Below is an example of my forums.
  

6. Change the favicon of the forums.

• 
  [*=1]Here's a quick one I made. 15x16 as the vBulletin favicon and ready to be converted here to a .ICO file.
  

7. Change the forum header, logo and background.

• 
  [*=1]It looks a little awkward right now and the Top 10 Stats seems to get out of the forum body. I can help with overhauling the forum style to create a custom Gamez skin if needed.

These are some things that have caught my attention while browsing the forums.

Yea I already noticed most of this. But right now. The only person with this authority is Lautaro. Im working on getting more rights to do this but its a slow process since Lau is really busy with work. I did about 4 1/2 years with vBull. ITs all a simple GUI in the Panels.

The Spamomatic thing is just there as default advertisement to have it or else we have to actually pay for that service.

This forum was pretty much made by one person so i can see why it it looks alittle messy. With grammar and stuff.
I personally use the New post button alot.

Like, In Hot Spam description. Grammar is alittle problem. Its all basic vB stuff. Not hard to adjust or change. Just need to steal them rights from the CEO O__o

Yeah it's mostly minor changes but they're pretty mandatory

I also use the New Posts button, I ment the Today's Posts in the Quick Links.

I do think this forum deserves an overhaul because it will attract way more people.

 

Someone who noticed the little imperfections on forums, that's a first!

I personally always thought it would be nice to get a few more add-ons for the forums like, say, anchors which would be useful for making guides with indexes n stuff...

 

Don't forget them spoilers.

But right now there is nothing that can be done while lau is busy.

 

Ok, as I finally got those rights to fix stuff XD

I changed the Descriptions of most of the sections to be more correct.

I also updated the Calender as you can't really remove it from the basic template. Well at least, not from my CP. So I just updated it to 2014.

Anything else, Ill look it up tomorrow as it is 11:22 pm and I need some sleep.
