Blood mark gear is good, but still not nearly the best

As for credits, consider this
Consider that the top tier of players are skilled enough to reliably win credit contests often
Now consider that people see the jackpot prize and want to participate
Those people donate $5 for 500 credits to participate, they lose to the top tier player that keeps racking in credits, but they know they can eventually win, so they donate more to try again
You keep getting people sinking credits into the events while the same people rack up the credits for winning

Now, that won't happen every time, but just because you -can- win credits, doesn't mean many people will, or that people won't donate just to be able to participate.

In the end its almost a credit sink.
