I recently returned to the game after a very long break. And the very next day, a pleasant, completely unexpected surprise for me, an update with relics happened. Here is what I looked at. But soon there was another surprise. A few days later, among the prompts on the screen when loading the game, I suddenly saw one very interesting inscription: “Use mod folder to modify a client by you own!” Cool. Once I used mods, and then for some reason the location of the files was changed for the game, and the mods stopped working. In general, here I am going to write about how to install mods in BDO now, in the sense that I managed to find out about this. As I understand it, they were supported just a few days ago. Maybe I'm wrong, of course, and everyone knows everything and has been using fashion for a long time, and if so, well, sorry for raising this topic, I somehow did not find anything on this subject on the forum, well, maybe I was looking badly. But still, here's the thing. Of course, I mixed it up, and instead of the “mod” folder, I created the “mods” folder in the game (well, this is a more logical name), however, the presence of even an empty such folder in the game led to the game freezing when loading. Then I saw my mistake, corrected it to “mod”, the freezes disappeared, only none of my manipulations with the mods in this folder led to anything, the mods did not affect the game. On the basis of which I came to the conclusion that the correct name is still "mods" - after all, the game absolutely reacts to this folder, only incorrectly. And a few days later I saw that the inscription in the tooltips had changed, now it was written “mods” and not “mod”, it was written “Use mods folder to modify a client by you own!” What does that mean? Definitely, that support for mods was made just the other day, they made a bug in it, they made a mistake in the name of the directory in the tooltips, and now everything has been fixed. I have no other explanation for what happened. I immediately created the specified directory again, threw one simple mod into it in three different versions, which I assumed could logically be used to place mods, and one of them worked - when I entered the game, I immediately saw that the mod had loaded. Well, here's a backstory. What I found out in the course of further experimentation: logically, they could be used to place mods, and one of them worked - when I entered the game, I immediately saw that the mod had loaded. Well, here's a backstory. What I found out in the course of further experimentation: logically, they could be used to place mods, and one of them worked - when I entered the game, I immediately saw that the mod had loaded. Well, here's a backstory. What I found out in the course of further experimentation:

    1) In the mods directory, you need to put the mods located in the "character" directory. Well, that is, for example, I had a mod to change the appearance of a fairy, it was in the “Fairy” folder, and in this folder there was a “character” folder, and so, if you drop the “Fairy” folder into the mods folder, the mod does not works, but if the "character" folder is from the "Fairy" folder, then it works.

    2) The game does not accept mod archives. Anyway zip, others did not check. Maybe they'll fix it later, but that's the way it is at the moment. You need to put the unpacked mods in the mods folder. Thus, they will all mix there, and it’s simply not possible to remove them individually from there. You need to have copies of them in unmixed form, so that if you wish, you can reconfigure the mods at any time, removing unnecessary ones from the game.

    3) Those who want to use the "Resorepless" Nude mod or mods designed to be used with it. This mod in the past needed a "partcutdesc.xml" file, which was periodically updated, so you had to download new versions of it for new mods. Now he needs it too. It also needs to be put in the "character" folder. Without it, characters (for which the Nude mod is applied) may be displayed somewhat incorrectly, have holes in the textures, etc.

    4) Regarding the Nude fashion "Resorepless". I can’t check how it works now, I had it buggy in the past, but now everything has become worse, it closes itself almost immediately due to a failure, and that’s it. But if it works for you, it's a no brainer that it can't be used as before. I mean, it's probably possible if you have a working version of it that is compatible with BDO GameZ (if one exists), but we're talking about using the mods folder now, and it works differently, putting it in it is pointless. So, if it starts up for you and does not close itself, as I understand it, you can still use it. You need to set the necessary settings for it, make it work once, then all the necessary files for installation in the game will appear in the files_to_patch folder, here you will need to go to the “character” folder and copy everything from there to the mods / character folder.

    5) About removing things from characters. The "Resorepless" mod was convenient in that it allowed you to remove a certain type of item completely from all costumes. Let's say you specify not to display the sleeves, and "Resorepless" will prevent the sleeve files from loading into the game. The mods directory, if it can be, I don't know how to do it, because I see only one way to achieve the removal of some thing - slip an empty file into mods. Let's say you want the dark knight in the shark costume to not display shoes, that is, so that when he is in this costume, visually he was with bare legs. You need to put an empty file in mods with the name of the shoes of the shark suit. You need to know what this file is called, which is an inconvenience. You need to know the name of the folder in which the files of the dark knight's things are located. Its folder is "15_pdw". The shark suit's shoe file is called pdw_10_foot_0013.pac. Costume shoes should be in the armor\12_foot folder. Thus, if we create an empty file in the mods\character\model\1_pc\15_pdw\armor\12_foot folder, let's say a text document, and rename it to pdw_10_foot_0013.pac, we will find out when we enter the game that when the dark knight in the shark costume , he is without shoes (and at the same time without pants, since this suit has pants combined with shoes).

    6) It's better to search for mods for BDO in the internet using Google. Yandex clearly has something against them, but Google slips sites with them right away, the first search results.
    ------
A couple of examples of mods are attached (I hope they will be here, I have not tried to post files here before).
    1) A mod that makes the suits of the shark and the fisherman of the dark knight completely invisible.
    2) A mod that changes the dress of the Shai servant to the Oren costume (wingless, but the same as in other races, and not like the Shai), and the headdress of this dress into a hat from the Marina Romance costume.

Thank you. Before that, I was just thinking about where to get the resources of the game. I tried to extract them with various programs that are on the Internet, such as "paz_browser" or "Black Desert File Extractor", but none of the programs I found work with Gamez BDO. Now thanks to your 3589_mods_source you can make builds from different costumes, that's great. Yes, and for mods from the Internet, it is sometimes useful. For example, the mod that converts Kibelius to Shai didn't work for me before for winged Kibelius, because on GamezBD the upperbody filename of the winged Kibelius for Shai is not the same as in other places, and what, I did not know how to find out. And now, just look into 3589_mods_source.7z, and you can immediately see that this file is called "plw_00_ub_0034_j.pac". I renamed the file "plw_00_ub_0034_w.pac" to it in the mod and the mod worked.

I found another interesting property in the mods directory. It turns out that it picks up many changes on the fly - no need to exit the game and reload it, you just need to minimize it, install or change the desired mod and deploy the game again. For example, this works perfectly with costumes from the game store - you change some costume, go to the store, click on the try on of this costume, and it will already be changed. And if the mod is put on a suit that is worn on oneself, then for the change to take effect, the suit must be removed and put on again. But once I have a suit that seems to hang on me, taking it off and putting it on did not lead to a change (and the suits in the store changed without problems), and this was fixed only by restarting the game.

I tried the way that post on undertow.club. The launcher will update all modifiled files to clean ones. If I repalce all files and inject them when laucher opend, the game will crash. I have no idea how they manage to make mods work.
