Well, as it stands, I am bored, and decided to start this topic. For anyone interested, this is a Q(question) and A(answer) thread meant for aspiring or already made GFX artists that need help with anything related to GFX work. May that be advice on unfinished work, advice on other projects, etc.

I invite everyone to join this, but I would prefer if only 'experienced' GFX artists reply towards each question. I'm reffering to people with several years of experience and who know the difference between mere signature making and digital art. Basically, people that know their business.

So, if you got any questions, haul away here.

How many layers did you use on your sig?

Considering I do alot of merging/deleting/editing to each layer, you can say that about 100-200 layers go into each 'proper' sig (that is one made with extensive effects and not a simple pop out thing or forum like layout). The problem is that I cannot give you a correct number simply because there's too much merging involved in my workflow.

    But my generic estimation is:

Simple signatures : around 80, probably less
    Advanced signatures: around 120 layers

Often my signatures look entirely different during the work progress then the completed result though. I.E this signature had originally alot of green/blue/yellow hued material, until I decided against that color scheme and went for something entirely else. So some project of mine may even have 200 layers into it.

Well I totally understand trying to find an animated sig I did like 4 years ago...

It was 293 slides.. each moved like 1/2 a mm each time for the most flowing moving skull ever
