Info [GUI] Project Songbird

Roughly 2 years ago, I first began tinkering with some Aion files in order to better understand the client. I eventually found the files of the UI and decided that they need a colorful overhaul (recolor), the results of which were posted in this very thread.

But the old days are over, I need to do more in order to grow and extend my horizons. Instead of plain ol' recolors, I will try to give the UI a whole new appearance - a whole new design to enhance your Aion-experience. I'm sure that this challenge will be an extremely fun and lasting journey, especially since I don't have ANY first-hand experience in designing a GUI.

I shall use this thread to share my progress and newfound knowledge with you guys.

Uhh, what is actually different? I haven't played Aion in a while now so I'm probably pretty unfamiliar with it, but is it just like a teal color instead of the gray? (I'm also colorblind so it looks mostly the same to me if that's the case)

 

Yeah, all the UI is changed. Cast bars should also be changed IIRC? The last time I saw the first post they had different colors for when it was level 1/2/3 with charge skills. Target bars, elite/heroic etc mobs we're changed. I'm not sure about everything Furan changed with this specific UI recolor but that's all the kinds of stuff you can change.

 

I've made everything a shade of blue to make it look colder but still a little monotone to fit winter.
The next seasonals will have dual or triple colors, customized loading screens and more if I can think of more. So definetely stay tuned. ^^

Btw, if you wanted to change it back you just repair client right? The Japanese loading screens are kinda annoying, I'd rather have the old one back, can I still have the UI change with the old loading screens?

If you provide me with your old textures.pak from C:\Program Files (x86)\NCSOFT\Aion\L10N\your language or enu\textures, I can. I will send you the finished piece by PM.
The NA launcher doesn't seem to download the American loading screens anymore. (That or I'm just stupid.)

This is pretty neat, hard to remember the last time somebody made a fun little project like this. I actually like the loading screens, but doing personal requests would be pretty neat.

This should work on retail if the launcher doesn't notice the changes.
Alternatively, you should probably use a batch file.
