    Old-School GFX Classing Guide

This is a guide on critiquing forum signatures, guide made by me (Lies), classing system is based off of the old PR classing system.
    First off
What should I be looking for?
Theres always a factor of personal preference when it comes to critiquing signatures, but there are some things that should stand out that are:
Color Scheme Are the colors easily visible, make sure they don't hurt your eyes, does it give the art its "tone"? Analogous or complimentary.
Flow (Direction the Eye is drawn towards, usually beginning at some form of Light source.
Contrast is the signature too bright?

Focal/Render/Stock how is the main image of focus incorporated in the art, is it recognizable, is it clear?
Lighting Light source? does it compliment the Focal/flow?

    Rules

Don't be afraid to be a critic, but only critique someone on their artwork if they ask for it, this is a pretty big community, and you don't need to go around hurting people's feelings, so only class/critique if they ask of it in the title or the post.

Don't get lenient, you'll most likely never see a piece that's "Professional" here, so don't go around classing everything you see as "Pro".

Be nice, The stuff you will be critiquing is artwork, and people are usually proud of their artwork. If you have nothing to say/aren't going to critique properly, then don't post...Please.
    Classes
This is what you would post in the actual critique. For example, if someone said "critique this sig" you would post something along the lines of "Low Mod/High Beginner".

Beginner- This is the artwork that shows little characteristics. Needs work.

    Sub Classes

    Low Beginner "Low Beg"

    Beginner "Beg"

High Beginner "High Beg" This class might fall under "Low Novice"

    EXAMPLE: NOT MY SIG

Novice-Signature shows some signs of flow, and a general color scheme.

    Sub Classes

Low Novice - Might also be High Beginner

    Novice - a.k.a "Solid Novice"

High Novice - Might also be Low Moderate

    EXAMPLE NOT MY SIG:

Moderate-Obvious signs of flow, color scheme, and incorporation of focal.

    Sub Classes

Low Moderate - Low Mod, also known as High Novice

Moderate - Solid Mod, or Mod

High Moderate - Loosely Known as Low Intermediate

    EXAMPLE NOT MY ART:

Intermediate-Exceptional incorporation of flow, color scheme, smoothness/sharpness, and generally looks great (Most of the people who do art for free on the internet, that look good, are at this stage.)

    Sub Classes

Low Intermediate - Low Inter, High Mod

    Intermediate - Inter, Solid Inter

High Intermediate - ALMOST Semi-Pro , but not quite there.

    EXAMPLE NOT MY ART:

Semi-Professional-Highly unlikely to see here. At this stage, freelance work maybe done, EXTRAORDINARY skills.

    NO SUB CLASSES

    EXAMPLE NOT MY ART:

    [IMG] made by Clyzm

ProfessionalBest of the best, they get paid to do Art. Ex. Magazine Designers

    No Sub Classes

    EXAMPLE NOT MY ART:

    Examples of Posts

    Title: Class my new sig!

Original Poster: [IMG] Old sig by me

Please Critique and Class for me!

Poster 2: Well, since their is obviously no Flow to be found, I would say solid beginner, also try and work on sharpening your image...and maybe dulling the colors to make them more alike.

    OP: Thanks man will do.

Have fun and happy Holidays! Remember don't be mean!

YOU MAY POST GFX YOU WANT CLASSED.

Sure you can, if you get paid a yearly salary and go to school for it, you can be a professional designer in no time ;)

I'd love to be a graphic designer, but I think I would do better programming or something.

I'm really interested in doing actual personal Signature tutorial/technique guide, but I need to see how this one turns out to see if people will actually pay attention to it :p

Well, if you don't mind me viscously defacing your art, I've pointed out the "essence" of flow/Light source, which having that is very good for being "new" to photoshop

with that said, since you did say you're new, I'd say solid beginner, just look up some tutorials and Download some PSDs to see what other people do..
