History

Why do so many things here at Gamez tend to repeat themselves as time goes on? Lately there has been many well written threads stating common concerns, mostly with development issues and drop rates. Gamez has had it's history of devs, some now hosting their own p.servs, but we wont go into detail as it's just drama anyways. Now, many are concerned because of the whole droptable issue, why shouldn't you be able to kill something such as Stormwing and get loots? After a while of thinking, many people come to the conclusion that it's for the money, which then separates the donators from the non-donators, as people in anuhart tend to be unable to keep up to the donation people.

Now back to 1.5, during this time the best gear was EAT, and with the use of medals from events, you could also get it without donating, which was really impossible since most events only gave silver medals.. and for that, most people fell back on anuharts, and were still able to keep up because the disparity in gear stats wasn't as high. Also back then, the fortresses couldn't be captured at all, so you couldn't obtain medals through any other means than events.

This is in a way, like a power creep in updates. Aion itself already shows its power creep through it's own NCSoft updates, such as 2.5 sorcs.. but at the same time, this power creep that gamez brings is making it impossible for new people to really be able and keep up with the competition. In anuharts it wasn't so uncommon to be able and keep up, but against full ABG people, you start to notice a major difference, and the only real way to keep up would be to get better gear.. but, what are your options? Vote for a few months and try to manage with mira/fenrirs, or even longer and attempt abg. Or, donate. I understand the premise is to get people to donate, and that of course donators should be rewarded for donating as well by, of course, having the best available.. but it also comes down to population, if your servers full of only donators, then who's really playing? Shouldn't non-donators be able to keep up in the least? Not to say some don't, I know a few people who rock their anuharts like it's ABG lol, but that doesn't change the fact. Gamez desperately needs drops implemented, what I'd suggest is to only implement stormwing, since people then would have an instanced boss that they can repeat in an attempt to gear up, no vielle, no masta, you can keep those to the donators. This would also bring promote pvp around the entrance area to stormwing, people need in to gear up afterall.


Now, this history doesn't just apply to players as well. This can apply to them GMs themselves, it's funny to me how well Gamez manages to keep up through it's drama fests over the last few months, and still manages to push forward. Everytime being, it's a colored name person dropping a major 'bomb shell' which results in people mindlessly running around declaring the end, its over find a new server etc etc. I find it funny, because everytime, Gamez has pushed forward, and some things do change. We have lautaro now, which in my opinion has done well to the forums, tho can be a little strict sometimes. Then we have the rest of the staff, which admittedly a few names suprised me the day I came on and noticed they were trainees. Some have surprised me, while others managed to shock me even with their faults (such as Mei.) Basically, staff comes and goes, be it personal or because of internal staff reasons, but mostly I'd just like to remind you, that Gamez will still progress forward, despite whatever truths you decide to reveal, and regardless of who you try and rally up. The only way I see things truly 'dying' around here, is when Carl decides to shut it down himself. The players are here to play, have a good time and enjoy themselves, and the staff members are here to promote that fun, and give a better experience.

Which leads to my final little tidbit, change itself.. as I opened with, history tends to repeat itself much to often at gamez, and lately people are starting to speak out, and make well educated and founded requests. How long before this vicious cycle that is, comes to and end, and people can truly enjoy themselves? I'm still here hoping to see some good change, and I'm sure others agree with me by now.

I realize theres no true response to this thread, most people can't tell me anything since most are asking the same things, mostly I just felt like putting my thoughts down for everyone to see, if you disagree and find things to be great at Gamez, then I'm happy, keep enjoying yourself, that's the reason you're playing afterall.

I agree, but I was hoping my stormwing idea might hold more value, since stormwing gear is much better than anuhart though still pve, and it would help newer players not feel so defenseless against the high amount of already full ABG geared.

 

Yeeeep, the thing is that SW gear > ABG when it comes to mres... and well... lets face it... we can't have the donor getting anything but the absolute best can we? /sarcasm

Oh, btw, implementing those bosses would entertain old players like me as well.
Honestly pure pvp gets real dull after a while, and I'd love to help my legion mates get geared up

@fade yeah its too bad that not even dp works and fenris/miragent r bugged along with crafting so non donators dont really have much of a chance

@adieu i think there r other ways to keep the donations going without killing the game balance. for example, i know they r against highlvl boss drops since people might prefer to farm them rather than donate. in that case, why not just enable the drops but lower the drop rate a bit? gives people a chance without making everybody just insta farm a full set of a comparable armor

they could also replace overpowered website shop armors with more remodels that people look forward to and i would even say a lot of them would pay for (specially if they arent available ingame). that way ud keep donations coming while being able to enjoy fair play

would be interesting if they added a tracker to the website store to see how often certain items r bought, im sure many of u would be surprised that its not just abg (yeah some of it is voted for but still)

Honestly it would be enjoyable to make people work for their gear with retail-like drop rates & boss respawn times but then the high-rate server would loose its meaning (just a thought stuck in my head)

On topic : Should I say well-written ? You probably knew that it will be at the moment you have finished double checking it .
Stormwing / Mastarius / Veille drops would be nice if they were implemented .

and, just stormwing would suffice since it'd be repeatable, a lot of people like masta and veille for the skins over the stats, which is why I thought keeping them as donation gear would suffice, this way donators can still get the skins they like, while new and old players alike would be able to get stormwings.. it's just more newbie friendly this way.

 

True that , well as for my thought ... most of the Gamez players know that I was playing on Infinite Aion before & even though I prefer Gamez to Infinite because of its community and the players who I spend my time with , I still have to admit that it was really thrilling and entertaining to fight for bosses & get loots .
It was the brigade general who shared the drops & looted the bosses etc , so you had to give a fine performance to get items more often etc etc ...

As for your idea , I agree ~ It would be nice & hopefully it WILL be

I only notice this thread just now, and yeah i agree with u and Zee, though i would like masta and veille drops too ^^. I mean, there's no point in getting good gears only thru donations and it isn't fair for some ppl. A proper Besh Temple (or even Abyssal Splinter, if it's ever gonna be implemented) drops is wat we want/need. i mean sure donators get the best gear 'cuz they donate, but non-donators need to be given the chance to be on the same par as those donators. Full ABG against full stormwing sounds interesting to everyone, right?

 

Oh, god. I come back to the forums to read about current events and I see this.

Back in 1.5, there were no medals given/dropped. But, after awhile, all the non-donators wanted change and fought to have medals distributed from events. However, only silver medals were given out and not gold medals... leaving players with Anuhart to go against Miragents/Fenris (which were not 500 back then -.-) and EGT/EAT.

Even though gold medals soon followed to be available, what Adieu is pushing for is regular PvE items to be dropped from bosses that should be hard to kill. These items don't even have the PvP defense bonuses and aren't even available in the Credit Shop. It's ridiculous how non-donators have become so irrelevant, because lately, I've only seen people with overpowered gears and special skins running around Sanctum that can only be gotten from donating (unless you have been voting for months outy. But where are the rest? There are not many players that often stick around only with Anuhart, or Miragents/Fenris, gear. Allowing new drops will not only promote PvP, but it will also persuade non-donators that they're still relevant.

Think of it as Anuhart, but for 2.0-2.5. It's time for an upgrade (I also want to get rid of my Miragents gear T_T).

 

Thank you for understanding It's just a way to encourage new players and growth, since they'll have a better chance to keep up with competition.

 

this is best thread so far about the currant situation but i think Carl milking this cow before other games comes out then no buddy will donate then he will close it so i think it will never be implemented

btw is our dev team no longer working on gamez??
