I need help

I got a $25 gift card to Gamestop as a Christmas gift, so I used it to pick up Warhammer Space Marine that was only ten bucks. First of all, the game is amazing and I can't believe I waited so long to play it, but it puts me in quite the predicament. There is numerous DLC that includes 2 map packs. The Chaos Exterminitus map pack and the Dreadnought map pack and I have heard that they are both amazing. Unfortunately THQ went all bleh faster than a Omnigoric Hydra that just got its heart cut out by my Kaiju fang sword. (You have to kill those things by cutting out their hearts, you can't cut their heads off as they just grow back. However unlike in popular media it only grows the one head back and doesn't turn into a many headed monster if you just keep cutting off heads as that is ridiculous and would make no sense at all. In fact I rather am turned off by many creatures or monsters that have more than one head as it just makes no sense. The only exception is Cerberus as it is a magical guardian of the underworld but that's the only one and I am now digressing so we shall get back to the main topic)

This along with a combination of no dedicated servers, just matchmaking and the age of the game have resulted in not very many people playing it nowadays. The only multiplayer games I can get into are Exterminitus(it's like Horde mode from Gears of War) and while its fun, I would also like to try the versus mode. The only versus mode game I got into was one last night in which I was in matchmaking for one hour while watching the new Flash Series and when it finally did get me into a game I was matched with 2 level 3 people(I'm level 13) against a team of all level 41s(highest level in that game for some reason) and well things got messy and I soon left because I don't like playing games where the situation is basically like that episode of South Park where Stan coaches a pee wee hockey team and for some reason has to play the Detroit Redwings and seeing as his team is just little kids vs grown men who are professional hockey players things don't go well.

Now to the question. Should I buy the map packs? The game is fun and from what I have heard and soon the modes are fun IF you can get into a game. The problem is not very many people are playing and I don't want to be stuck forever in matchmaking and not being able to get in any games because no one is playing.

If you like the game right now and you see potential to enjoy it more by buying the expansions, then I would say get the expansion. But if you think the game is going to be empty soon and playing the game will become dull because you are always waiting for a match; then I would say not to get the expansion and just use the money to try something new.​

 

You must get the packs. Why? Because you're Beastie, that's why. You're Supreme HAM God Emperor, which dwarfs the ranking even of Emperor of Mankind. Those level 41's simply don't understand who, or what, you are yet, because why would you reveal that so soon when you could prolong your ascension to the top, surpassing even the Imperium. They will only be able to look up at you in all your glory, and don't even get me started on the orks. They are nothing to your holy presence. The blood god will have all the blood he desires, but only once you deliver retribution upon all those 41's who would do harm to your weak and frail team mates. You got it all wrong from the beginning, you weren't Stan coaching a pee wee hockey team, you are Stan taking up the Sword of a Thousand Truths and smiting those enemies who so wrongfully thought you were just another plaything.

Personaly, I think that it won't worth buying the maps at this rate. As you already said, there are not so many people that play the game. With this said the probability of this game to be dead in the near future is high. However, there is and the second option, when suddenly a lot of people may be interested in the game and the population could increase. Your case is win or lose and that's what it makes it so hard to deside. I'd suggest you to wait a bit untill you do anything. If you see an increase in the population, then buy the maps, if not, just leave it be....
