So I thought I'd share my extremely amazing gaming PC. You won't find anything that even compares to my PC! So yea, be jealous peeps :3

My computer's hard drives are actually dying. Apparently the damage has happened due to high amounts of power outages that my neighborhood suffers. Despite my efforts to encourage my family into getting surge protection, not much has been done about it. End result, the hard drives are slowly becoming obsolete. Just a few weeks ago I decided to repair both of my hard drives. The amount of corrupt sectors it found was unbelievably high, and I highly doubt repairing the drives made any difference. I've been trying to run a low level formatting on both drives, see if that might fix anything at all. Sadly, my old lady won't get the courage to back up her files and let me format the thing, she's too scared of formatting.

Regarding the audio, I warned you. My voice is...far from decent, and I actually sound like a 7 year old Mexican with hearing problems. Willing to buy Arnold Sch****enegger's voice D:

My rig is pretty slow for today's measurement:
AMD Phenom x3(x4) Black Edition 3,6 GHz OC [125W]
    ASUS M4A78T-E
    2x4 GB Corsair DDR3
nVidia GTX 275 :: 700/1550/2315 896 MB GDDR3 (Roughly equals GTX 560ti. Sligtly below it and doesn't have the new phisics technology that comes with 400 series, but oh well, I'm not made of money)
    750W PoV PSU
1x200 GB Hitachi Ultrastar SSD (for the OS)
4x500 GB Hitachi HDD500IBMSER2 (for immediate usage)
I also have about 6 TB in other HDDs in my garrage, witch I use to safekeep various file compilations. Good thing there's eSATA these days xD

This old turtle runs maxed TERA like a boss on Win 7 with 16x AF and FXAA. Result is ~65 fps stable. Good enough for me considering I'm using 1680x1050 ol Philips Brilliance 220SW monitor...
I bought my parts for roughly 650$ without the HDDs. Some came second hand w/o warranty, but who cares, my country is small xD

To the OP. Dude you should seriously give away 50-60$ for some UPS. It might hold for a couple of minutes, but it will save your future HDDs. And about your current problems. When the power stops in your home, your HDD powers down completely, meaning the magnet heads that read & write witch usually stay a few microns above the magnet disks of the HDD, fall on the disks and make tiny scars. If it's just 5-6 times on the same place, it'll be repairable with certain russian low level HDD recovery scripts, but if you have let's say 1 power outage each week for an year, consider your HDD incapable of securely holding information. Check these drives with HDD Sentinel. It reads your SMART and will show you how many integrity errors have been recorded from day 1 till today. If your HP bar is below 70%, consider your HDD as dangerous. You can temporary patch them up for use by wiping them with a serious wiping tool (erase everything down to zeroes) and check your drive with MHDD to see how much damage there really is and lock sectors that show very poor speed parameters as well as these that are bad. But know this: when bad sectors start to appear, they don't stop... it's an iron clad rule.

a couple of years actually, not much x.x

Been trying to get a new one for a good year now, hoping to get a new one fairly soon...

I am now quite sure I need a new computer. Considering the last repair on one of the hard drives flagged a ton of bad sectors which weren't there a couple of months ago, I'm only considering low level formatting because I really do not have the resources to get a better computer. I also need to check what's up with the RAM, why one of the memory sticks isn't showing up. It quite prolly got fried recently.

Regarding the UPS, as I said, I have been trying to convince my family of getting one for...quite the while now. Things are really not looking great, I might need to pull the plug on the PC until I can fix something, otherwise it'll just get fried whether I stop using it or not.

I'm about to start backing up my old lady's files, pretty much against her will since she keeps asking for me to wait for her to do this herself. I should be starting low level formatting procedures in roughly two hours. Hopefully tomorrow afternoon we'll know how things turned out? x.x
