New arena speculations and concerns

    I've played 3 arena matches in the 1v1 category and I'm already incredibly dissapointed for several reasons.

    1. Collapsed wind tower map : How is a sin supposed to beat characters with ranged abilites in flight..? ........ Oh wait.

    2. Abyss bridge map : If you dont kill your opponent as an assassin off the break in the corner, they will kite you until you bleed out, or you will bug out on one of your 3 dash attacks which WILL happen.

    3. When a round ends, there is no period of invulnerabilty to rebuff and rescroll. Giving your opponent free reign to beat your skull in like a raw hunk of meat, less he decides to stop for a breather.

    4. It's not against members of an opposing faction thus not granting AP.

    5. To my knowledge there is no reward system in place for these events.

    6. When an opponent inside the arena quits, the arena does not end.



    To recap. There are no rewards. There is no ap gained. There is no end goal. There is a severe imbalance with map choice for both ranged and melee characters, and there is an unfathomable amount of dysfunctional components in this already abysmally thought out system. So would someone like to enlighten me on the point of this implementation?

    I'm not concerned about the AP or the fact that there is no reward since the actual 1v1 is a reward in itself, but atm many classes with long CDs are at a pretty bad disadvantage. And yes, as you mentioned.. the flight maps are horrible for sins.

    The only REAL problem I see here ( that can be changed ) is the arena with the long bridge. There's people who would just sit on it if you fall and wait it out.... like cmon people, there's no gain or loss other than the actual fighting... why sit there?

    3: Same disadvantage to him. Just keep an eye on your scrolls like you would in regular pvp.

    4: Hopefully AP gets added. Not a big deal though.

    5: Read the FAQ


    It provides a different kind of pvp, when you're tired of running into a group of 7 who are all after you.

    Flight pvp as a sin can be rather deadly of you play it right, go watch vids on how others do it.
    Ofc there will be bugs and alente already said he plans to fix them.
    I have fought asmos with my ely in FFA and 1 v 1, but this is training mode so no ap or rewards. They're still planning on implementing thefull version. If you want ap go into Ing or something.
    Relog if they quit.
    I so far have absolutly enjoyed myself. They were implemented because we asked, they are not mandatory to be played in. This honestly seems like a pointless qq thread, if you don't like it don't play it.

    I tried not to make it a massive QQ post for sins, due to the fact that it brings out the behind the scenes imbalance of the dual stigma system, which is not the way the game was meant to be played. I will promptly be transferring back to lumiel, thus making carl more money, thus causing a nullification of the previous points i just made because in the end, it is indeed about the money.

    If you don't like the blatantly obvious points and questions that needed to be brought up about the most recent update, then don't comment. Your post just honestly seems like a massive dick riding contest. Glad we got the initial pleasantries out of the way. The fact that youre coping with the problems in the system isn't the point the fact that they exist is a huge problem and one that would hinder a players enjoyment of the server.

    1. I've seen a few deadly sins in the air but at the end of the day Aion is a game largely based around flight, NCSoft chose to implement one flying map in each arena. Not overly shocking...

    2. Kite you? As in on the bridge or on the floor? The floor is meant to kill you however we haven't finished that yet.

    3. There's meant to be a brief invulnerability period after deaths and round changes. Yet to be implemented.

    4. Not meant to give AP anyway. The actual version, not the training one, gives insignias however it isn't implemented yet.

    This thread contains some valid concerns however you seem to have largely blown them out of proportion for the sake of theatricals.

    There are some bugs which we acknowledge however a large amount of your complaints seem to be based around how NCSoft designed the arena.

    Yes there is a flight map, it's a game based around flying - SURPRISE! (Tip: You might have picked that up when your first major storyline quest was a quest to ascend and get wings)

    Yes there is no AP gain, there's meant to be medals for the sake of gear progression to get NCC. You know... on retail where you can't buy a full gear set for a day's wages.

    While your complaints are certainly noted the truth of the matter is we decided to dedicate development time to this feature at the behest of the community. The fact that you don't like it, the fact that you wish to make troll threads voicing your disdain, is nice however there's no pleasing everyone nor do we expect to.

    Don't like it? Go zerg in Inggison.

    We will continue to improve and implement game features as time and resources permit. Bugs will be addressed in order of priority and if you dislike the entire idea of arenas even without the bugs then obviously they're not for you. There's other things to do =)
