This is not a game guide. It is a personal identity protection guide.

I notice alot of people who post their real names, their facebook links on their profile and allow people access to their stuff and personal information.

I am just another user on the forums and alot of you guys do not know me at all. That is not the point.

Despite how small the community is and how long you may have known each other. This is still considered a social media site and you should protect yourself as much as possible. There are hackers, stalkers, ETC. I know people who been victims of online harassment and stalkers. Some people believe that they are immune to things that never happened to them.

My cousin was a victim of a stalker a few months ago. He posted alot of personal information on websites. He thought he could get better connections with people around the world if he did. At first, everything was ok. Then over time, he started getting Emails and Phone calls from people he don't know. At first it was harmless. But then things escalated to threats and frauds.

My point is here. Do not post information that people do not need to know. And do not post personal information that makes it easy for someone you do not know to find you. Especially if you are in a online competitive environment. Because this crap can really happen:

Do what you want. Your life, but be careful what you post. Things can happen. Someone can steal your bank information. They can steal your game account. Once you post something on the internet, it is never gone. Even if you delete it, it is still there. Some how, someone is going to be able to recover it if they try really hard.

Things you post can affect your future as well. Such as getting a job. Especially on Facebook or twitter. I am not saying, not to make friends here. Just be careful. Don't trust anyone till you can really trust them.

Also, your computer is not always safe. Even if you have an antivirus software. Once your computer is infected, the only way to get uninfected is by wiping the computer completely and reinstalling everything. Antivirus softwares only cover the malware and that malware can reach deep into your computer and multiply and open up your system to more viruses such as Trojans and Adware and keyloggers. Even if you are not surfing unsafe sites. If you think you got a virus, be safe, backup important files and wipe your computer clean. Its the only way to get rid of the viruses.

If an email is asking for information. For example, a email that looks like an email from your bank and it is asking for you to give your information so that they can fix some errors. DO NOT respond. Delete the email. No legit site will ask you for your information over the email. They will ask you to login through the actual site.

    Be safe.

We ALL need to be careful. I know some people on this game that want to meet me in real life, but I'm VERY wary of it. I want them to skype me first etc and get to know me before even doing that.

It's clearly stated in the forum rules that you SHOULD NOT post any personal information, i.e. your full name.
Regarding the spam bots. Yes, they may be a hackers, who can leech information from your PC. Either way, just don't click the links they provide in their posts.
