Advanced Install and Troubleshooting

Standard installation process is to install and update the retail BDO client from https://tinyurl.com/BDOSetup-1013 then grab the GamezBD Launcher from http://tinyurl.com/gamezbd-v229 and using the settings (gear icon) point the GamezBD launcher to where you installed the GamezBD game client to. Since GamezBD updates are usually behind retail a bit, I would also suggest keeping 2 BDO client folders if you have the space on your hard drive, 1 for retail and one for GamezBD. This will work for many players but sometimes there is added steps needed to get things working.

Some rather common solutions is make sure Windows is up to date through Windows updates and also make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card. After major installs it is usually a good idea to do a restart of your PC this can also resolve many other issues and is a good place to start any troubleshooting. Periodic restarts of modem/router do help to keep things running smooth as well, frequency of these would be determined mostly by how much internet traffic these devices handle.

The following video should help players understand the process of opening firewall, antivirus, and turning off read only, the 3 most common steps needed to get GamezBD working, also more detailed instructions can be found below.


Now that alot of the basics are covered, I will proceed into some more advanced steps to be taken depending on which type of issue you are having.

If you are having file error issues or launcher/game crashes:
-Navigate to your BDO game client folder and GamezBD Launcher folders, right click on the folder and choose properties, on the first page of ppoperties you will see a read only box near the bottom, untick this box and click apply and then ok, do this for both folders.
-GamezBD uses a modified anticheat that triggers a false-positive in many antivirus softwares, so to avoid the issues this may cause go to your antivirus settings and make exclusions for the GamezBD game client folder (as well as the bin, bin64, bin64\xc\na\2, and bin\xc\na\2 folders) and the GamezBD Launcher folder and save these settings. Once done be sure to uninstall the GamezBD Launcher dont modify or repair and then install it again. Restart your system after doing this step.
-GamezBD launcher will sometimes give a missing msvcdr110.dll error, you can get the needed fix from https://tinyurl.com/vcredist-2012 system restart may be required after install as well.
-GamezBD launcher can sometimes give a failed to init security error, to resolve this press WindowsKey+R, type regedit and hit enter, once registry editor is opened navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/ControlSet001/Services and delete the folder xhunter1.
-Clear the caches by going to Documents/Black Desert Online/ and delete the User Cache folder and then go to Users/USERNAME/AppData/Local/ and delete the Black Desert Online folder.

If you are having problems connecting to the website or game server:
-If you were in the game and got disconnected, and now the game wont let you log in, send a PM via Discord or Forum to @Noyah @Lareldal @Ouch containing the issue and your character name that was logged in and wait for a response.
-Open Network and Sharing Center from Control Panel, choose Windows Firewall from lower left column, on the next screen choose Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall from the upper left column, on the Allowed apps screen choose Change Settings and then Allow another app, choose Browse and navigate to the GamezBD Launcher exe file and click Add, do this also for both BlackDesertOnline exe files found inside the bin and bin64 folders in your game client install folder, once all are added click OK to save.
-Open Network and Sharing Center through control panel, choose change adapter settings on the upper left column, right click your network adapter you are actively using and choose properties, choose the TCP/IPv4 from the list and click properties, 2nd section under General tab you will set the option "Use the following DNS server addresses" and use these IPs for preferred 8.8.8.8 and for alternate 8.8.4.4, click ok to confirm and then you can close the other windows. -If you are using VPN software or proxies, make sure you configure them properly or disable them.
