The cap basically kills doing multiple lifeskilling activities at the same time. It caps out hunting, imperials, fishing, and crates under the same 400m pool. Why is it that if people choose to, they can stand around and trade in pearls for caphras all day, but if I actually want to play the game there is an artificial barrier implemented preventing me from doing so?

Can someone explain to me the intelligent design decision that led to cucking lifeskilling on this server?

We never fully understood this cap, however, be glad that now it's capped at 400m, and not 200m as it used to be. XD

I might be able to answer that, but it is not a direct answer as such, from the upper echelon of the staff though, however I do remember someone answering this question once.

It is mainly because they want to keep GamezBD an "active" game-version, meaning that they would rather have a loads of players running around grinding and questing, than a bunch of them "just" doing life-skills for silver income. The reasoning was that it would seem, for the server population in general, that there are more players actively playing, than if most of them were off doing life-skills.

Now my personal opinion is that Trading should indeed be a viable form of income, and it is in fact news to me that they had increased the Trade income barrier to double now. It is a step in the right direction but the game was designed for many different types of players, and playing styles, as well as greatly dependant on the whole aspect of variable incomes. The way that you can build a Worker empire for instance, although I am still awaiting some form of feedback on the Worker boost suggestions already made. That you can run Trade routes, or go fishing for specific fish for the Imperial Vendors, along with the crates crafting, it just seems like such an immense waste of game content.

But I do get the point of doing it too though, having a server filled with life-skilling players would make it seem empty and without proper player interactions as such, the GamezBD servers would not be as popular anymore, is my guess.

The thing is though is that this actually kills your players that prefer to lifeskill over grinding mobs and more "active" activities. This limit in fact discourages what you want which is a more populated server and causes numerous problems in the marketplace.

When you impose an artificial limit to how much you can earn lifeskilling per day, does it create player incentive to play more or to suddenly switch to grinding/pvp? BDO is a SANDBOX and players decide what activities they want to engage in. If you create an artificial barrier or wall, once people hit that limit, they'll play less, not more. In fact once I learned of this cap, it just turned into a well I'll afk for the entire day and turn in boxes and crates till I hit the limit. Since you've imposed a restriction on the way I would like to play the game, my personal response is not to play more but to disengage. And in fact if this is the reason you guys imposed a cap in the first place, you need to look at your bigger problem which is pearls ---> silver. If you're goal is that you want people to play the game or engage with the server then why is this in the game? You literally log in and stand in town, turn your artisan memes into caphras and then collect your welfare check. How is that "player engagement"? You guys are literally encouraging people to not play the game and instead idle rpg their progression through the game. Why would you think that preventing players from playing the game a certain way would ever be a good idea? You reward people for not engaging in the game and then punish those that actually choose to play it.

Then there's double damage being done to the marketplace. I've seen your post on @loboram on issues with the marketplace but do you know what discouraging people from lifeskilling does to the market? It leaves a giant gaping hole in the resource market that would normally be thriving and instead is a barren wasteland. You can see thousands of logs, minerals, resources per day posted on the market that there simply isn't a market for because player's can't turn that resource into a profit. On retail you have hundreds of thousands of orders on the market for basic materials which doesn't exist here. If you want to fix the market then let player driven economy be a thing. Allow people to play the game how they want to and demand created by those that want to pursue different avenue's to earn silver will consume the supply provided by those that do not.

Lastly look at the social impact that this has. People join the game in groups and play in groups. If you're lifeskilling friend can't play the game the way they want to where do you think they go? When you're friends start leaving the game, then you start leaving the game. Not everyone has the time to spend 12 hours a day grinding for silver and the reason BDO is so successful is that it caters to so many different groups of people and play styles. Stop cucking yourselves by limiting the game to only one type of player; it doesn't make any sense. Lift the cap and stop policing the way players want to play a SANDBOX.

Look @Meapussie, I would like to say that I myself am not in the decision making processes of this site at all. I can just like anyone else, make suggestions and that is it. Also there is not much reason to be so infuriated over this situation, because for the players that have been here since the opening of the EU-server, it has certainly only been progressing in the right direction. Trade was actually opened, where before it wasn't part of the game at all, then more things were incorporated into the Trade possibilities, and now lately we have seen a doubling of the amount of silver earnable in a day, from Trade related sources only.

Black Desert Online has been clearly classified by Pearl Abyss themselves as a MMORPG, and while it has some aspects that are Sandbox-like, it is certainly up to debate what a sandbox-game really is. For instance to me the greatest example of a true sandbox-game is Minecraft. Because it embodies the concept of the term: "The "sandbox" term derives from the nature of a sandbox that lets children create nearly anything they want within it." (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandbox_game). However in recent years the term has been expanded, and used to describe games like Grand Theft Auto 3+. So apparently it is debatable what is and what is not.
I quoted this because I am unsure of what you mean.

About Life-skilling in general, most player think of it as just Gathering, or Farming, maybe building a Worker Empire, perhaps even adding Fishing, but very few think of it as Trade based silver income, at least to my knowledge. That is possibly because of the way the servers are set up now, that there is very little income to gain from the crates and Trade routes. But I WholeHeartedly agree with you that the game has indeed been designed to be played by a huge assortment of players, with varying play-styles, and that not being able to play as they would like to on our servers, is damaging to the community and player-base.

I'd just like to say that there is no reason for this to be "progressing in the right direction"; Trade and lifeskills are part of the game. GameZ taking it out is what I'm up in arms about. Why should people be fighting for you guys to undo something that is already in the game.

An idle rpg refers to a game that play itself where you simply leave it on and interact with it minimally, think like clicker hero. Lifeskilling in the game does not require as much effort as say farming mobs but still requires interaction to participate in. Think of like chopping logs > processing logs into planks > processing into plywood > making wood crates; this chain of production requires player interaction with the world, whereas the mechanic to turn pearls into caphras does not. GameZ allows players to idle rpg their silver in town with minimal interaction but limits the amount of progression that can be made by actually playing the game which is what infuriates me. I think pearls to caphras is a nice option to have in terms of progression say if you don't have time to play the game as a feature on a private server but the fact is that a player standing in town can pretty much earn the same amount of silver as a player who actually plays the game and hits the 400m trade cap / day. I'm sitting on billions of turn ins at arehaza that took significant time and set up to optimize to but I can't actually realize it because of this inane function that limits the amount of money I'm actually allowed to make per day. In addition to that it entirely fucks with the game's own in game systems like the magnate buff (desert trading buff). Am I supposed to just spend 100 energy every single day and run my character to Arehaza simply to do turn ins every day for 400m? I'd rather uninstall the game than do something that takes 30 mins of my life every single day instead of something I should be doing once every few weeks to a month.

First of all, no one if "fighting" with you. You are the one who is apparently Really upset. No one else is matching your text in that regard.
I do have to point out something that seems to have been lost in translation. RPG is an abbreviation for RolePlayingGame, which granted is nowadays given to the most non-RPGames imaginable, so it is fair enough when people simply do not know what RolePlayingGames should really be about.
I am not quite sure how you came to this conclusion, after I pointed out that the leadership Wanted players to play actively. Also it Really clashes with the next statement.
You see in the previous quote, you yourself state that there is a way to earn silver quite easily, without having to actually play the game, but here you are actually advocating for a game that is played absolutely minimally, by yourself.

Alright, I am not trying to tear down your first argument, about improoving (how it sounds) the silver income of Trading in general, in fact as I have already said; I agree with you.

But it is just difficult to carry on a reasonable discussion, when it has been posted in Questions, and not Suggestions, also the question has already been answered, while you seem to get more and more upset with the answers.

So all in all, I am going to close this thread, not because it has no merrit, but mainly because the question has been answered. If you want to make a Suggestion to the Server, I will support you making a thread in the Suggestions section, but I would like for you to think about how it will affect the entire server population, because as you yourself said: "something I should be doing once every few weeks to a month", which would Really affect the server population badly.
