You didnt clarify your system specs !

It would be helpful if you tell us about your cpu, ram, motherboard and psu of course (current resolution of your monitor can help also) .

DON'T buy the HD 6950. Instead, save a lot of cash by buying the 6850. The difference in performance between the 6950 and 6850 is low. The of the 6950 costs twice as high as the 6850.

You want proof? Here is your proof PassMark Software - Video Card Benchmarks - High End Video Cards<---- most trusted sited by the greatest graphics enthusiasts out there. You can count on me because I know what I'm talking about. I do have years or experience with graphic cards.

Price of the 6950 - 240$ Scores 3,108 on the chart.

Price of the 6850 - 160$ Scores 2,835 on the chart.

With only 270 points of difference, the HD 6950 isn't worth an extra 90$. With 90$ you can get yourself a decent high quality power supply to give enough juice to your new graphic card. I'd suggest an OCZ / Corsair / Antec

Listen to me and you won't regret it.

By the way, the HD 6850 is the BEST BANG FOR BUCK on the market right now. Search for it yourself.

Putting aside benchmarking. It also depends on what resolution OP is using. With resolutions of 1920x1080 or higher, 6950 gives better FPS (almost double in most games). But if your tight for budget, a 6850 will do just fine.

But be warned. When you start bumping up the settings like Water reflection, Physics, AA , Vertical Sync etc, 6850 pales in comparison.

Things like AA's are entirely GPU dependent if your CPU is adequate. Benchmark scores include your CPU/RAM/HDD scores.

    Edit:
I doubt the numbers for that site is based on performance. Its too screwed up.

Heres an example: GTX 580 (the card with the highest score) VS GTX 295

    A GTX 295 scored 1,714

    Memory Bandwidth
As far as performance goes, the GeForce GTX 295 should theoretically be a little bit better than the GeForce GTX 580 in general

    GTX 295 223776 MB/sec
    GTX 580 192384 MB/sec

    Texel Rate
The GeForce GTX 295 will be quite a bit (more or less 87%) faster with regards to texture filtering than the GeForce GTX 580.

    GTX 295 92160 Mtexels/sec
    GTX 580 49408 Mtexels/sec

    Pixel Rate
If using high levels of AA is important to you, then the GeForce GTX 580 is the winner, but it probably won't make a huge difference.

    GTX 295 32256 Mpixels/sec
    GTX 580 37056 Mpixels/sec

    While a 6850 scored 2,835.

Since you were using these scores to compare a 6850 to a 6950. You would now tell me a 6850 is alot faster and better then a GTX 295.

    Here is a comparison of specs between a 6850 and a 6950

    Memory Bandwidth

    6950 160000 MB/sec
    6850 128000 MB/sec

The Radeon HD 6950 should be a lot (more or less 89%) more effective at texture filtering than the Radeon HD 6850.

    Texel Rate
    6950 70400 Mtexels/sec
    6850 37200 Mtexels/sec

    Pixel Rate
    6950 25600 Mpixels/sec
    6850 24800 Mpixels/sec

But for price/performance concerns. 6950 is the winner as it easily unlocks to 6970 speeds.
