Account missing for no reason

Ok, so I had previously downloaded the game and created an account but never got around to playing yet. I was about to start playing today, went to login to the website and apparently my account has magically disappeared? I know I'm inputting the right ID/pass as I have the specifics saved from the day I created it. I didn't play on that account so not a big deal to create a new one but it doesn't make me feel real great about potentially investing my time & money in a game where I've already had a previous account disappear into some magical vortex.
