Pfft post-secondary isn't that bad XD!

I didn't know what I wanted to do... honestly at the time I threw myself into school in general sciences with no major or minors or any idea what I was doing.

I took a intro psych course (science orriented humorously enough, I remember the screams of angst at the fact it wasn't 'easy') and fell utterly head-over-heels~in-love with it.

I think a solid 90% of the reason why people should go is because of interest... no one can succeed without passion.

    Not A professor, MY professor >:D Well obviously you'll advance in Neurosurgery, but you can have a little spice here n' there. A chef! You could make me food too, muhahaha! And school doesn't teach you why Twinkies taste so good... ; - ;

    Maybe street school.....foo'. :x

    i have to quote this...

like what you've said, i couldn't agree more, most of the time kids in high school don't know much what they wanted to be when they grow up and end up taking stuff which either they would find out they've wasted too much years/money or being a jack of all trade and a master of none... some take up stuff what their parents told them and in though they succeed and graduate but still doing lame jobs and get bored cause it's not what they really wanted.

Aegis, you, however is lucky to find what you really liked...

i've seen some of my college friends graduated and worked way out of line from what they took... it's because they never had passion to what they were doing in college...

Indeed... I am RETARDEDLY lucky. But I'll take that luck with me for the rest of eternity, its mine, its a part of me; my luck is forever me =p!

Everyone in my family is still shocked I didn't go after ooncology... well I am interested in neurooncology, but after (personal) experiances in my family.... even I was sure I wanted to smash cancer apart in absolute rage. (Personal, but lets just say my highschool and first 2 years of university were prettymuch wrecked due to that lovely C.-word.)

But yes... that is what most of the world has sadly =\ That's prolly why people should try and look around in unexpected places, and not set their hopes into becoming the next Bill-Gates (billionaire).

With passion comes excellence, satisfaction and overall happiness. And with all of that? More positive disposition and a better quality of life. Even if one is a plumber (highly underrated job), if they take the time to become 'the best' and keep trying on and on... that individual very-likely will make 6-figs. Not even joking, I've seen it before. People like reliability and good-people.

Thus my sort of horrible-formulae is:

Passion -> Excel -> Success -> Money (That is, if you even care about money. I personally think money is a man-made and disgusting thing @_@)

Lol law is overrated in my opinion XD then again medicine DEFINATELY is.

So many cocky and aggorant people... I seriously somedays wonder if it would be better to be up North in the Rig's. People hype doctors to be "huge money makers", "care about others", "give back to society", and other beautiful altruistic and 'successful' qualities.

Tis all lies. All lies. There is, however, a few handfuls of medical doctors that authentically care. But most of them are condescending and rude!

Litterally a few days ago I saw a FRCPC neurologist walk in to a patient who had chronic pain and tell him that there was NOTHING they could do (it was a little kid and speaking to his mother). And I was standing there and I was like... ".........." because I could technically perform a surgery that doesn't... 'remove' the pain but studies have shown that it can make them be 'less bothered' by the pain. In effect it is a bit counter intuitive... but they are less effected, but still aware of the presence of that pain.

So meh. I agree, passion always wins. I actually have them booked a while from now (I think its about a month or so... maybe longer :S), because it yanked my chain to see such negligence. But then again if I said this in real life?

My ass would no doubt have been tanned raw for talking down to a 'superior', but in the end I'd tell them to bite me.

it's sad, probably they knew and would rather risk the pain than being counter intuitive...
