Aethertech - Starting help?

So I arrived in Sanctum and hell, this melody brings back memories. Has not changed a single way at all, except for some minor stuff. Any aethers around here?
But I got a few questions to you aethertech players. Well, first things first.
What's the best kind of armor and weapon I should use or, what are the ups/downs on different weapons? From my old days as templar/gladiator I know that some people prefered poles, greatswords and dualwield or sword/shield for different reasons, so I don't really know about what I should use on the aethertech. I'm asking that early because I want to choose the correct weapons/armor on the questionaire rewards.

Next thing is, are there special tricks like weaving for this class which it can profit from or certain skill rotations I should stick to?
From gladiator/assassin I know that there are certain tricks and rotations to achieve the best single/group damage, crowd control or whatever.
Then, what kind of armor is the best I should use? because, when I played gladiator I had a chain and cloth set depending on whether I was going against physDDs or mages.
And last but not least, stigmas. Which should I go for? Because, when leveling, I sometimes might get stigma stones and I don't want to put the wrong ones into the auction house.

I'm not aiming to turn my character into a pure-PvP character since it's not one of these tiny-midget thingies that mostly run around, my main key is still PvE, PvP is only secondary and I prefer group PvP over duels to be honest.

PS: My server is Lumiel, so I have the stigma system.

PS2: little off-topic but... Is there some kind of global/race chat...? I know some servers having this feature.

Aethertechs are quite particular: they have both meele and long range attacks, yet their damage is influenced by Magic Boost and their chance to hit on the enemy is determined by Magical Accuracy.
Aethertechs use Cipher-blades as weapon, which allows them to ride their robot through a skill called "Embark".

This class uses Chain as main armor. 4.0 introduced two different sets of chain armors: Magical and Physical.
Since AT's skills work with MB and MA, you will have to pick the parts which give you those stats.
As for scrolls and food, you should stick to mage type one but make sure to use attack speed scrolls. Casting speed is quite useless on ATs.
The best manastone build for PvP is MB/MA, you can put some MB/MR stones in case you think you have enough MA.

Did not have any problems so far, so I guess my version is pretty fine already. And for the class, it seems really interesting. Attack speed/shooting based + magical stats. Hooray for Kingdom Hearts lol.

About the weapon sets, should I use pistols as sec. weapon? Since a bunch of non-Bastion skill are based on pistols...
And what about this Aethercannon thing, isn't that also a weapon for this class?

 

Aethertechs fight only on ther Bastions, there is no need to get a set of pistols. it's pretty useless. And nope, the Aethercannon is a Gunner weapon.
