    After several "Elfen Lied" suggestions, I went ahead and watched the entire series a few days ago. Its my new favorite anime, personally, but wow it had some really sad parts in it ;-;

    If you want a great comedic anime watch Full Metal Panic Fumoffu

    If you want one with an awesome storyline, great action and some dark aspects watch Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood

    If you weren't watching One piece I'd definitely recommend it.

    If you want to see some very interesting a cool fighting styles you should watch Naruto Shippuuden, it also has a darker aspect

    Bleach is great as well, I love the way they represent power and Ichigo's dark side.

    I'd also recommend :
    Fairy Tail
    Toaru Majutsu no Index
    Death Note (don't bother with season 2)
    Claymore
    Clannad
    Hayate no Gotoku (comedy)
