    Unfortunately no, there is no other way to augment your weapon/set cheaper than the augmenting NPC.

    no, there is none, but there are changes on augmenting. they lowered the cost of AP when Augmenting a full Arbi set + wep, last time it was 1.4m+ but now it only need 1.02m+ abyss
