One fine day in the middle of the night, two dead men got up to fight. Back to back, they faced each other, drew their swords and shot each other. One fine day in the middle of the night, a fire broke out on the ocean. The blind man saw it, the deaf man heard it, and the man with no legs ran to get the fire brigade. The fire brigade came and ran over a dead cat and half killed it.

At least that's the version I've been taught all my life. Dunno who wrote it, but my grandfather taught it to me as a kid. And I'll participate in this =3 Kinda sucky about it being so shoooorrrrt.

The paragraph limit is too small e.e

I guess I'll just make massive run on sentences and claim I'm horrible at grammar >>

Well there's nothing to say it has to be ONLY 5 sentences. I view that as a minimum, at least 5.

Upon the darkness of night, when the owls sing sonnets of love to blackening sky. Where the daylight dwindles to dust and those who crave the sentiments of a less holy birth come forth. This day, All hollows eve. A testament to the old religions and the past befuddled thoughts of a time much remise where a simple candle could be considered blasphemy. Anyone who was accused of such acts as being associated with the occult could be burned alive at a stake. Just why would such things happen? One could tell you of a story hidden in the clouds and set aside for the wandering eye to may by chance happen upon.
The book itself is old, dust covered when I first found it in the used book store. It was ordinary, plain I thought to myself as my fingers crept upon the covers slowly wearing edges. The binding itself was of leather, held with small brass rings. Certainly it was worth more than the mere 20 dollars that the owner of the shop was asking. Turning from the rack, with a gasp my hand raising to my bosom. There was the old man. His eyes slightly yellowed, a stench of old cigarettes blowing from his mouth. Even the rot on yellowed teeth. I could only think to myself how repulsive.
“Have you found everything alright today miss?” He asked ever so politely.
“Yes, I was just looking at this book” My voice, was slightly fearful, then again how could I just run from him as every ounce of my being wanted.

“Ah! That book. It is very special young lady” The man said again in this tone that just rang on the ears as a grating across a chalk board.
    “Well, Um..I.”
“No no, This is free of charge for you. Please. Enjoy the reading. Just remember to bring it back before the next All hollows eve.”

Now why, did I accept his book? This gift he gave me and with the stipulation of having to return it before next year? I don’t think I will ever actually know the answer to that one. Not now or ever. Though, I do wish I had more time to think about the gift. Upon leaving the small shop, it was an instant race to get to my home. I wanted to tear into the books pages as soon as possible. Call it a fancy of mine to lust for new things and to de-virginize them as soon as possible. Entering my little castle, just a small ranch house where myself and younger sister live. A few moment pause to set down the purse, and pull free the newest book to join the collection. Off to my room!
How could a book be so enticing? The written word has many powers, it brings to a world of fantasy. To places where you could never dream or never would experience elsewhere. Once in my room, the door shut, a simple candle lighting me from over the shoulder, sending flickering panes of light streaking about the shadowy facade. A small creek in the pages the first few words. ‘O’ thee of strong heart. Pray to thine gods for salvation your time is nigh the moon of the eve O’spirits.’. I almost screamed for giddyness then. Just the way it rolled from my tongue. I was in bliss.
Continuing though the reading forgetting about time for the sake of being so enthralled in the pages of literary gold. Deeper and deeper my mind fell into some dark crevice from where it felt I would never return. The descriptions of the dark night, the foggy pathways though the forests. The knights riding along carrying torches. This was some medieval fiction! Something that deserved to be known about and carried on high though the university classes. I promised myself that I would try to get it accepted into a locale university for study as to what the author meant by some of it.
However, as the time passed. The candle dwindled out. Strange now how I can remember the scent of the candle wax and wick burning out yet still there was the flickering light it gave off for hours and hours more. A day passed, I didn’t sleep, nor eat. All I could think of was finishing the book. That, was my downfall. The book. It had to be the damned book. October 31. The day my life would never be the same again. Or was it always this way and I simply had forgotten the truth of what I was?
It was now Halloween. A day of joyful festive celebration, where we would give children candy, and mock the spirits for their power. Unlike the old days where people stayed inside and hid away from them. Paying respect to the fallen and the unholy creatures who slaved their one free night about the world they had left. A knock to the door! Springing from my chair with bowl of KitKats, Almond Joy, and Butterfingers. The TV playing some stupid horror movie. I believe if was Dracula to be exact.
    “Trick or Treat!!!”
What I was greeted with when the door was opened. A princess, a knight, and a dragon. How cliche I thought to myself, but they were all cute and rather nice. Taking their candy in the little bowls provided by the parents who were standing just off the porch and light. They left, thank god they left. As I suddenly didn’t feel to well anymore. My stomach was fluttering a tango. Running for the bathroom just knowing what was coming in a few moments. Oh yes, I did throw up. It actually hurt, I never threw up I thought. After that, I decided to shut the lights out. No reason to get anyone else sick.
Settling down after that horrible moment and to the movie again. I felt sore, extremely so at that. It felt like my body was about to burst, well it was. I could feel my legs twitching, my arms as well. Rubbing myself down figuring it was just a knot or twenty more. To no avail, then I looked at myself, shivering while trying to stand. A quick scream. Lord what was happening to me? My hands had changed to that of clawed paws. Elongated fingers with hard talons on the ends. My jaw I could feel changing, it hurt so much. Closing my eyes whimpering for what was the better part of a half hour though the horrendous transformation. Oh yes, I no longer was a human.
I was now one of the fabled werewolves. My face, a maw filled with razor sharp fangs. Those twin blue orbs having masked over to a yellow. Yes, defiantly it was not a dream. I was awake. My entire body had been covered in a sleek black fur. My feet to bad for the new shoes I had just bought myself. My stomach was growling. Trampling up the stairs, as my sister was home she ran out of her room. Screaming at the top of her lungs too. I remember because it hurt my ears, those long wolven features.
She, sadly was the first. Leaving a gore filled mess upon the floor when those fangs of mine finished ripping into her. The door that she had slammed in my maw, it only added to the rage I now felt. The fact that she was family, it really gets me sometimes. To remember the way she tasted, her blood, her flesh. So divine. I guess it had to be fate that she was the first meal for the new wolf. It did not take all that much time for me to figure out the truth. No, I had gone to the shop after there. Finding the old man, in the same state as I was.
He was.....divine. A perfect specimen even. The way he had looked before? It was a joke, just a false face put on to keep those who would suspect something away. Oh when I stood there in front of him. I knew already. He just smiled at me, his eyes the same as mine were. No he wasn’t in the same state as I was he could control it. Yet the blood and piece of flesh that was hanging from my mouth spoke volumes to him. All he said to me in that moment was.
“Welcome my dear. Welcome to a new life, where you are free of everything that could ever worry. You are now a wolf, a hunter. They are our prey. In time, I will teach you to control this and you can live a perfectly normal life. Save every Hallows Eve, where you will always become this.”
What was I to say to him? Even if I could have spoken, it was rather hard to with out a proper mouth. He was right though, every year since that night. On All Hallows Eve. I became the wolf that was always inside. The book? I never did see it again, and after he had finished with his promise to me? To teach me to control myself, I never did see him again.
That was seven years ago. Almost a full 8 years. I can once again feel the tugging upon my body. Oh how nice it is to let myself free. Soon it will be Halloween. I do pray that try to stay inside. I would hate for anything bad to happen to you.

Here's mine. Enjoy. It was fun to write.

    Gamez Network House of Horrors
    By: Ashtar

Looking back, the day started out innocently enough. I was investigating supposed haunted houses in the area, looking for a really great one to spend Halloween night in. This was the first time I’d heard about this particular house having gotten a few stories out of the locals about it. Against my better judgement I went to take a look at it. Curiosity got ahold of me when I was told that supposedly the neighborhood children wouldn’t even set foot on the lawn out of fear of some sort of beastie called a Spiderbear that either lived there or had lived there at some point.

The house looked innocent enough. Just a normal two story house with a wrap around porch. Walking up to the front door, I couldn’t help but notice how nicely the yard was kept, the sidewalk and porch swept completely clean. Surely the horrors described to me couldn’t be true if the outside appeared so well kept. If only I’d known then what I know now.

I gave the door three quick knocks before it seemed to open on it’s own. I started to enter but found I could not. I soon heard a very pleasant male voice speak, “To say the least, it’s quite distasteful of you to try and enter here without an invitation.“ Curious about both his accent and the words he said, I responded “The door opened so I thought…” I heard another voice yell out while Im being grabbed and pulled inside “Hello nab, get in the cage” My scream catches in my throat as someone else grabs ahold of my other arm. “That isnt any way to treat fresh meat Zoda” I turn to face this new voice as terrifying thoughts of cages run through my head. The girl speaks again “How would you like to enter the cage of no return” “You’re sick and twisted”, I finally manage to get out. “I’m not sick and twisted. I’m downright demented and delusional.” The girl laughs as I hear the male voice speak again. “You’re all bloody bonkers”. I turn and look in the direction the voice came from. Many strange and interesting people are looking right at me and then the girl exclaims loudly “With all the witnesses here, I would like to ask Alente to marry me!” “Asaline darling I may love you but not even a strapon is going to make that marriage work”, the male voice now known as Alente says in response. The girl, Asaline, gasps, “That was…wicked mean!!” “It’s alright, the makeup afterwards is worth it” Alente says while giving her a wink.

At that moment a man runs down the stairs holding the largest bottle of vodka I’d ever seen. He comes up to Alente and says in a deep voice “Hello sweetness. I don’t wanna wear the french maid outfit.” Alente looks at him and says, “Some people make me twitch”. I am then introduced to all of these people, until we get to a young male wearing a white doctor’s coat. He extends his hand for me to shake it. Ashtar says “I wouldn’t shake that hand if I were you.” The young man extends his other hand instead, “Not that one either!” Vildiil gets a strange look on his face and says “Moro, you were already ¾ the way there! You were already cleaning him, what happened?!” Moro then grabs the young man and drags him off while the young man is screaming “Fap it, fap it, fap it, fap it!!!” I turn and look at the others. I catch their nervous glances before they put on fake smiles for me.

Bella then escorts up the stairs and along a narrow hallway lined with pictures. “Who are all these people” I ask timidly. “Past visitors. It doesn’t matter, come along.” I am then directed into a room completely empty except for a cage as a strong feeling of unease settles upon me. I get very frightened and start to protest, saying I want to leave but I am forced into the cage and watch as a lock is put on it.

I sit there for what feels like hours before I am left alone. The lock is too strong for me to break so I sit and wait, thinking to myself. I wish for once that I hadn’t let my curiosity get the better of me. It is even worse than what I was told about. Will I be able to get myself out of this predicament?

I must have dozed off because I woke up to Asaline tying Vildiil up completely to a chair. I watch in horror as she pulls out the razor blades. She starts peeling an inch of flesh off at a time, rubbing salt in his wounds. This continues for what seems like an eternity, but in reality was an hour or two. She seems to get bored then and leaves the room. Although Vildiil is obviously very weak from blood loss, he manages to kick the pants he was wearing close enough so I can reach them. “Key… pocket”, he says before passing out. I quickly squeeze my arm through the bars, reach into the pocket and palm the key he said was there.

Asaline returns soon after with a jar of peanut butter. She smears it on Vildiil’s stomach. She leaves the room a second time, only to return moments later with a cage containing several rats. The rats are released from their cage and Asaline giggles while they eviscerate him. Tears fall from my eyes. I am thankful he died from blood loss before this happened and I am grateful he gave me the gift of this key.

Soon enough, I’m left alone again and I waste no time getting the lock undone. I race down the hallway and out the front door in a panic. I run down their perfectly swept sidewalk and past the perfectly cut lawn to my car. As I’m racing out of this city, I happen to see a sign that says, “You are now leaving Gamez Network. We hope you enjoyed your stay”.

    The End

Hallow's Eve - As written by Vildiil. This story is COMPLETELY fictional, and any relevance to an actual story is completely coincidental.

It was a normal autumn day that afternoon, red, yellow, orange, and the occasional green leaves painting the horizon with their vibrancy. The kids were walking home from school as a cold wind gust lifted their hairs and sent shivers through their spines, though it didn't seem to bother them much because they knew what the nights' festivities would bring. They knew that tonight was Hallow's Eve, and in just a couple of hours they would be dressed in costumes to imitate ghouls, ghosts, clowns, and other festive assortments. The children had no idea the suprises, horrors, and excitement the night would truly bring.

The sun had crossed the colored sky, turning it a bright and radiant amber color, with the occasional cloud floating along. Children crossed the sidewalks, beginning their trick or treating. There was always one house that was avoided on the block, though. The exterior of the house was a maroon color, with a dark blue roof. There was an evil aura around this house, indescribable, and yet No person had dared to enter inside the house for years. Children ages and ages past had always told a horror story of this house, dating back to the 1950's, and that on Hallow's Eve, a ghost comes forth to try and take the souls of the living, to posess the person to allow them one night of final atonement for crimes so violent and gruesome I'm not allowed to talk about for fear of mental scarring.

Night had started to fall, and it started to drizzle lightly. Children and parents walked and skipped past the house, happily participating with their trick or treating. A few ghosts, a few movie actors, even a silly Shugo from the game Aion had passed. The street lamps were lighting up, and everything seemed to be a normal night, it'd seemed that all was well until the first lightning bolt has pierced through the sky in a flashy and terrifying manner, followed by a thunderous boom. It was night now, and the ghost was looking for its soul. It sent most sensible parents and children fleeing home, for they knew that the evening's terror was just beginning.

As the lightning bolt shattered the ground, the door to the eerie maroon house had managed to open itself. A chill crossed those brave enough to still be outside, and they'd known that the ghost had escaped the house. It was searching for the perfect body to take as its own. The ghost had passed by several adults and children, sending pure terror through their hearts and causing them to drop their candies and instantly flee. The ghost had posessed the first female it'd seen, thinking it could be linked to a lady in the past.

The young lady paused for a minute as the ghost acosted and eventually coerced the girl into giving in to their desires. It passed people walking, seemingly innocent at first. The ghost was looking for something, or someone, and would not stop until they were found. She'd walked past children and adults alike, for minutes at first, then for hours, It had started to rain a bit heavier now, and Most everyone was safe in their houses except a sole old man, out on his porch drinking whiskey. The girl paused and looked at the older fellow drinking, and started to walk towards him, seemingly having found what they were looking for.

As the girl had started to approach the old man, he drank himself further into his bottle of Jack Daniels, and smoked himself further towards cancer with a Menthol cigarette. He was depressed that evening, as he recalled losing the one love of his life thirty years ago. Every year that passed, the man found himself drinking himself further into a hole. He recalled how she looked vividly, with her long flowing hair, and her brown eyes. There were times where the man cried himself to sleep at night, never having gotten to say goodbye properly. He started to look up, and a look of complete bewilderment and shock had crossed his face. He had looked like he'd seen a ghost from his past.

The old man had looked up and managed to let a name escape his lips. "Kristi?" he'd asked with pure confusion. The girl, now posessed by the ghost, had started to open her lips, and as she had another lightning bolt lit the dark night sky. "Why didn't you come to visit me Ed!" the girl had screamed with a coarse yet soothing voice. The old man had stuttered for a second before saying, "But Kristi! You'd left me that night and told you'd come back, and not to look for you! How was I to know!"

The two had stood outside of the old man's porch, and as they argued each time the woman had become upset an earth-shaking thunder had crossed the streets. The guy had never gotten to confess how he truly felt, how he was always head over heels for her, how he missed her so much that he refused to talk to anyone else the rest of his life. That he resigned himself to drinking to numb the pain. Minutes had passed, then hours, and the old man had finally let everything out. The girl had looked a little shocked, not having thought of everything he had went through, not realizing how much she'd truly meant to him. She wanted to atone and let him say goodbye before she'd left, and she knew there wasn't much time left.

It was nearing midnight, and the girl had realized her time was cutting shorter and shorter "Ed, would you kiss me one last time?" She was almost afraid to ask, fearing that he would smell like whiskey and cheap cigarettes, but longing for it to see that nothing had changed the time she was away. He started to get up from his chair, and walked slowly towards the girl, the night rain having paused it seemed. They were both close enough to feel each other breathing, and he leaned in and touched her lips with his. After a moment, their lips had parted and the girl had managed to say "Ed, I have to go now. I love you, now and forever."

After a moment, there was another bright flash of lightning, and the girl had returned to who she originally was, bewildered that she now smelled like whiskey and cigerettes. She walked home in the rain, still mentally shocked because she had no idea of her prior actions. Her family wondered what had happened with her, and the girl was unable to explain, simply saying "I don't know" Eventually days, and weeks went by before the girl had finally realized what had happened after reading an obituary for the old man in the local newspaper. She felt disgusted but happy, sad but joyous. She'd indirectly changed the lives of two people at once, and it was a feat that she would eventually grow to cherish.

That night, the old man had fallen asleep outside with his bottle of whiskey and cigarettes. He never did wake up the next morning, or even the next afternoon. Eventually the children grew concerned and called the paramedics. He'd passed away, paramedics listing hypothermia as the cause. A funeral was held for the old man that week, several people in the neighborhood attending. They recalled how he was always alone, and always bitter, yet someone had recalled his last words he was able to recite "Kristi I love you. You were a blessing in life then, and one even now. I'll remember Hallow's Eve for years to come"

On a very cold night, there was a young girl about the age of 11, decided to sneak out of her house because she got tired of listening to her parents fussing. It was the night of Halloween and she lived far away from town, away from all the other houses. Her parents didn't celebrate Halloween at all and didn't even think about getting their daughter involved in trick or treating or anything. The young girl's name was Evonna, she started walking away from her home, wasn't quite sure of where she was going because her parents never let her go anywhere. Around the corner of the long street she came from, she saw a really old house that was covered with vines and the glass windows were busted through, some of the windows weren't busted at all.

In the front yard of this old house was several plants that was grown really high, and trash was all over the yard. It looked like no one has been there for years and years. Evonna was really curious about the house when she saw it, so she decided to walk through the messy yard and tall plants to the old broken in house. When she got to the door and opened it, the door knob fell off as it came open.

She saw that there was cob webs all over the house and the wooden floor that she was walking on make a squeaking sound every time she made a step. There was just a little bit of furniture in what seemed to be the living room, off to the side there was a chair that had a huge whole in it, it looked like something just bit a huge chunk out of it. Tables were broken and looked like it had been clawed and the legs were even broken off of most of them. There was even a lamp on the floor that didn't even have a cover over the bulb which was broken. Evonna kept wondering about what happened in the house years ago from the broken things she saw, so she decided to search through the house more to see if she could find out what happened.

Evonna found a staircase that led to the basement, she was a little scared to go and see what was down in it, but she did it anyways from her curiosity. She was really wanting to figure out what happened in that old house. Evonna found an old basket that looked like it had baby blankets in it. Under the blankets was a small heart shaped locket, inside the heart shaped locket was a beautiful picture of a couple. The girl on the left side of the locket had long black hair and blue eyes, the guy on the right side had brown long hair to his shoulders and light green eyes with a little bit of grey around his pupils.

After she found the locket she decided to leave the house and walk into town to a police department. One of the policeman asked “What is a young girl like you doing at a police station at this time of night and not out trick or treating like the rest of the kids?”. Evonna responded with great curiosity while holding up the locket and opening it, “I would like to know who this couple is and what happened to them”. The policeman said,” That picture right there lady was about 50 years ago, this couple lived in a old wooden house not too far from here…..sad story about what happened to them though”. Evonna was wanting to really know what the story was so she asked the policeman about it,” can you tell me what happened to the family please?"

The policeman said,” well long ago this family’s home was broken into and that couple you see in the picture were murdered, their home was completely wrecked and the guy’s that broke into the house….we guessed that they probably didn’t even check all the rooms in the house or not because we found a baby that was still alive, not sure if the child even knows these days about what happened”. Evonna questioned,” do you know where I might find the girl that was a baby long ago?”. The policeman responded,” yes I do actually, she still lives in this town…not too far from here actually, would you like to know her address?”. Evonna replies excitedly,” yes please! I would really love to know!”. The policeman gives Evonna the address and wishes her luck on her journey.

She walked just a few blocks to the address and couldn’t wait to meet the lady. She got to the address and saw that it was a nice grey house with brown shutters on the windows and the door was brown as well. Evonna rang the door bell and a few seconds later the door opened. A old lady that looked like she was the age of 52 said,” hello there child, is there something I can help you with?”. Evonna replied,” actually, there might be something I can help you with…mind if I come inside and talk with you? it’s kind cold out here…”. The lady answered real sweetly,” sure you can dear, right this way”.

The lady led Evonna to her living room which looked really nice inside, it had paintings of Indians on the walls and the furniture looked nicely polished. The lady told the young girl,” have a seat deary, so what would you like to talk about?”. Evonna replied with a lot of curiosity on her voice,” well, I was wondering if you know anything about your parents……I don’t mean to ask a personal question…”. The lady interrupted her,” no darling, I really don’t mind you asking, sadly…I don’t know anything about my parents.” Evonna said sadly,” umm…I know what happened to them…I went for a walk and saw an old house that looked really messy so I was curious on what was in it, I found something in the basement of the house and went to go ask the policeman about it, he said that there was couple that got murdered in the house and there was a baby that survived….you were that baby..” The old lady was really shocked that the young girl found out all of that information just for her and the lady said with amazement,” wow, you went through all that trouble to tell me what happened to my family…I’m very very thankful sweetie.”

Evonna said,” you’re very welcome, I also need to give you this…I believe this belongs to you.” Evonna takes the locket out of her pocket and gives it to the lady, she opens it up and starts to have tears in her eyes. Evonna said really sweetly,” your parents were beautiful, they looked really happy, I thought that you would like to have your locket….I found it in a basket under a baby blanket: The lady gets up from her chair and walks over to the young girl and gives her a hug real tight, “ oh my goodness, thank you so much darling….you have no idea what this means to me…I don’t have to keep wondering about what happened with my parents now, you’ve really changed my life.” Evonna says quickly,” You’re really welcome, I should go…I’m sure it’s getting really late and I don’t want me family to end up getting into a bigger fight”. The lady replies,” ok darling, I really hope to see you again, you better get on home now before your parents blow a fuse”.

Evonna ran home, hoping that her parents wouldn’t be yelling at her when she got home. When she walked into her house, her parents both ran up to her and hugged her while crying. Her mother said while weeping,” sweetie, I’m so sorry that we didn’t do anything for Halloween for you, you had both of us worried sick about you when we found that you weren’t in bed, we were freaking out.” The father said,” Evonna sweetie, on the side note with you being out late tonight, we found out what you were doing and where you were, we are so proud of you….you changed that woman’s life, I’m sure she is very happy now.” Evonna said all sleepy,” well I think I’m going to get some rest now, I am really happy about what I did tonight and I’m very glad that I changed that sweet lady’s life.

After Evonna went to sleep, her parents locked up the house and they talked amongst each other about the problems between them. They both decided to try their best not to think so negatively because it causes problems with not only themselves but their daughter as well. In the next morning the family was together for breakfast for the first time in a very long time. Evonna was really surprised to see them all together and really happy. From that day on, her parents made sure that she was happy and let her be with her friends more so she could enjoy her life.
